A list of top 10 or top 5 best sports films of Bollywood is not complete without the mention of Chak De India. Released in 2007, it is still remembered for its taut execution and treatment by director Shimit Amin, and of course for the performances of all, including Shah Rukh Khan. At the box office too, it emerged as huge grosser of the year and made Shimit a force to reckon with. After all, just before Chak De India, he had wowed audiences with the 2004 action thriller Ab Tak Chhappan, starring Nana Patekar. And post Chak De India, he impressed audiences once again with Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Rocket Singh – Salesman Of The Year.
Rocket Singh – Salesman Of The Year released in 2009, after which Shimit Amin never made a film again. But if reports are to be believed, he’s all set to make a comeback. A source close to the project says, “Shimit Amin has a script ready and he thinks this is the right time get the film on floors. Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films (YRF), who had backed Chak De India and Rocket Singh – Salesman Of The Year, will be producing this film.”
The source further adds, “Yash Raj Films is completing 50 years in 2020. As part of the celebrations, they’ll be announcing some exciting and big-budget films to mark the occasion. Shimit Amin’s next would be one of those films that’ll be proudly launched by Aditya Chopra and team. They have immense trust in his potential and are extremely happy with his earlier two films with their esteemed banner.”
However, there’s no news on the film’s cast and title. Even the genre is not known. The source tells, “With most directors, one can guess what kind of film it will be since they often operate in one kind of genre. But when it comes to Shimit Amin, you just can’t assume anything. All his three films were drastically diverse. Ab Tak Chhappan was about underworld and Mumbai police. Chak De India dealt with hockey while Rocket Singh – Salesman Of The Year was one-of-its-kind-film on corporate structure. Moreover, YRF have fiercely kept all details under wraps. So it’s next to impossible to find out any more details. What is confirmed, however, is that Shimit Amin’s next with YRF is on.”
Post Rocket Singh – Salesman Of The Year, Shimit Amin was also seen in the capacity of the editor on Mira Nair’s 2013 film The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
Jennifer Winget reprised her role as Maya after two years with Beyhadh 2. While the fans couldn’t wait to see her to be the badass queen on television, Beyhadh 2 failed to show the appreciation on the TRP charts. After consistently low TRPs, the channel took an overnight decision to take the show off air, but the good news is that it will continue digitally. Maya Jaisingh’s character has failed to show the ruthlessness on some level and the fans are not very keen on watching it.
However, the show has maintained its position on the online TRP charts consistently and hence the channel has decided to run the show digitally. The last episode of Beyhadh 2 will air on March 13 post which, the fans will get to see Maya Jaisingh take her revenge on MJ, digitally. The show’s characters have left a lot of people impressed and the viewers are appreciating Ashish Chowdhry’s negative role along with Shivin Narang’s performance.
What do you think of the channel’s decision to take the show off air? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.

Actor Bhagyashree and husband Himalaya Dassani have been blissfully married for three decades now. However, mostly all relationships go through rough patches, and there's was of no exception. In a video that is taking over the internet, she is seen recalling a time when she was separated from her husband for a year and half.
"Yes, Himalaya ji was my first love and yes, I got married to him. Lekin ek arsa tha beech mein jab hum juda ho gaye the (But there was a period of time when we were separated). And I had that feeling that 'What if I hadn’t got him in my life and I had married someone else?' It got me to that stage because there was a period of a year and a half that we weren’t together. Woh ehsaas abhi bhi yaad aata hai toh darr lagta hai (I still get scared when I remember that feeling)," she is heard saying.
Bhaghayshree met her husband in school, and went on to marry him against her parents' will. This happened soon after her debut film Maine Pyar Kiya. She wedded in a temple, in the presence of some close friends including her first film's co-star Salman Khan. They’re now parents to Abhimanyu Dassani, who made his debut with Vasan Bala’s Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, and will next star in Nikamma.

Parineeti Chopra recently injured her shoulder while training to play badminton champ Saina Nehwal. She is now recuperating, but will soon get back to the game. I connected with Parineeti and she said, “I’ve injured myself training for badminton. I am resting and recuperating.” In the coming weeks, the practice and rehearsals to play Nehwal are going to be rigorous.
According to sources, there will be no body double to play the game for Parineeti. “Parineeti will do all the badminton scenes herself. No duplicates. Director Amole Gupte wants the game to look authentic. Parineeti must look convincing on the badminton court or the film will fall flat.”
One of the main reasons why Shraddha Kapoor had to bow out was her inability to look authentic like a seasoned badminton player. A source says Parineeti will also observe Saina Nehwal playing in the badminton court, “To get a hang of the game…the whole problem with Shraddha’s presence in the bio-pic was, she didn’t want to devote enough time to prepare to play Saina Nehwal.”
Secretly, sections of the Telugu film industry call it the new-age Mughal-e-Azam. The never-ending shooting of Rajamouli’s latest RRR is turning the film into an impossibly expensive project.
Sources say the producers are at their wit’s end as to how to control the spiraling budget. Sources say both the leading men Ramcharan Teja and NTR Jr have offered to waive a part of their fee to economize the film’s out-of-control budget.
Says a source, “The two leading men are willing to take a cut. Ajay Devgn is not charging any money. And Alia Bhatt may also do her work for a token fee. Everybody is co-operating."
Now if only RRR makes it finally on Sankranti 2020.

A clash of two films on a festival or part-festival seems passé. Bollywood is gearing up now for a three-way clash. We saw a hint of it last year during Diwali when the biggie Housefull 4 clashed with two small films, Made In China and Saand Ki Aankh. This year, trade and industry is already dreading the epic clash that is scheduled to take place on Eid 2021. On May 22 this year, three films are planning to arrive on the same day – Salman Khan-actioner Radhe, Akshay Kumar’s comedy Laxmmi Bomb and the much-loved Hollywood franchise Fast & Furious 9.
And now it has come to light that another such clash will happen next year as well. Ajay Devgn today announced via Twitter that he has signed the official remake of the super-hit Tamil film Kaithi. It’ll be a joint co-production of Reliance Entertainment, Ajay’s Ajay Devgn Ffilms and Dream Warrior Pictures. The latter were also involved as the producers of the original film. Kaithi released last year and starred Karthi, Narain and Ramana. It is about a man, just released from prison, and who gets involved in the madness involving cops, criminals while trying to meet his daughter. It was a 2019 Diwali release and was a super-success.
Ajay Devgn also made it clear that this film will be out on February 12, 2021. Incidentally, this is the Valentine’s Day weekend, when two more films have already booked their spot. The first one to do so was Shakun Batra’s untitled next, produced by Karan Johar. It stars Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday in leading roles. Some time back, producer-director Aanand L Rai also revealed that he plans to bring his next film, Atrangi Re, on this date. The film has an enviable star cast comprising of Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan.
Trade and exhibitors have always spoken sharply against such clashes, especially when films of same stature come on the same day. It remains to be seen if this epic clash indeed takes place on the festival of love in 2021!
