Coronavirus Impact: SHAH RUKH KHAN’s YRF film hits the ROAD-BLOCK; Siddharth Anand cancels his recce

Bollywood Hungama had revealed that Shah Rukh Khan is teaming up with Siddharth Anand on an action film, which is a part of YRF’s 50 years celebration called YRF Project 50. We also informed our readers that the film will be announced in April. However, following the coronavirus pandemic across the nation, the workings in the film industry came to a stand-still and not much is known if YRF will go ahead with its plan of announcing a slate of releases in April.

Coronavirus Impact SHAH RUKH KHAN’s YRF film hits the ROAD-BLOCK; Siddharth Anand cancels his recce

However, we can confirm that the pre-production of Shah Rukh Khan’s next with Sidharth Anand had already begun and the same has hit the road block. “It’s a big scale action film, which was to be shot across the globe, and Siddharth Anand was planning to go on a recce to explore several virgin locations. However, he has dropped the plan now owing to the travel ban, and will go on a recce only once everything settles down,” revealed a source close to the development.

In the meantime, the director is working from home towards fine tuning the script and is in constant touch with both Aditya Chopra and SRK through video conference. The trio is also discussing other aspects of the film such as scale of action, probable locations, budget and working on the timelines of the shoot. “The idea was for SRK to shoot for two films this year – the Siddharth Anand actioner and Rajkumar Hirani’s feel good drama. But it is all a wait and watch scenario and there lies a strong possibility of his comeback film post Zero getting delayed further,” the source added.

Shah Rukh Khan’s last was a box-office flop, and ever since then the actor has taken time off to read scripts and retrospect on what went wrong. According to sources, he has rejected over 30 scripts in a span of last 2 years, and has finally decided on three of the most exciting stories, which will be shot one after another in next two years. The three scripts include Rajkumar Hirani, Sidharth Anand, and Raj and DK. Rajkumar Hirani is also working towards fine tuning his script. He is still contemplating on Ali Abbas Zafar’s Mr India and Atlee’s mass action film, which is being scripted. When will be start shooting is something we would know once all the travel restrictions are released. Stay tuned for more updates on Bollywood Hungama.

As nearly three-quarters of Americans remain in a lockdown mode at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, data from Adobe shows the number of “buy online, pick up in-store” (BOPIS) orders has soared while e-commerce continues to see explosive growth. Adobe said BOPIS rose 62 percent, year-over-year, for the Feb. 24 to March 21 period, “as consumers began practicing social distancing to limit their exposure.” While most retail is closed, grocery stores and mass-market retailers with grocery offerings remain open as an essential service. Shoppers confined to their homes by executive order are allowed to go to grocery stores and may also engage in outdoor physical activities (with limits). The data from Adobe also showed that e-commerce in the U.S. is up 25 percent, and is “largely propelled by online grocery shopping,” authors of the report said, adding that “online grocery shopping in the U.S. has seen an over 100 percent boost in daily sales.” Adobe’s COVID-19 data report is part of the company’s just-launched “Digital Economy Index.” The company said the index “takes the boom happening in e-commerce, and brings those insights into traditional methods of analyzing the economy and consumer purchasing power.” The report also found that the virus protection category, with

Milano Unica Postpones Dates Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

NEW DATES: Italian textile trade show Milano Unica is the latest fashion-related event to be postponed in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The event, originally slated to run July 7 to 9, is now scheduled for Sept. 7 to 9 at the Milano-Rho fairgrounds. Textile companies will present their fall 2021 collections. “The reasons behind the decision to postpone the usual July edition [of the fair] stem from the complexity of the domestic situation and the international evolution of the outbreak, in addition to the indisputable difficulties in producing the collections and the efforts made by many [exhibitors] to reconvert their productions to provide personal protective equipment,” commented Alessandro Barberis Canonico, the newly appointed president of Milano Unica, adding he hopes the decision will contribute to overcome the health emergency. Earlier in the week, Barberis Canonico told WWD the fair’s board was also concerned “about the impact that [the emergency] will have on our clients as they might still be unable to travel.” As of March 31, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide reached 787,631, according to a Johns Hopkins tally, 101,739 of which are in Italy. “In this crucial moment we’re all asked to halt our pace and our habits, in

SS Rajamouli’s title confusion; Here’s what RRR really is titled

For months now we have all been wondering what RRR, the title of S S Rajamouli’s film meant. It turns out that the maverick director was trying to get the rights of the title Raghupati Raghav Rajaram. Having failed to acquire it, the RRR acronym was given another interpretation altogether.

SS Rajamouli’s title confusion; Here’s what RRR really is titled

The RRR now stands for Rise Roar Revolt in Hindi (and never mind if those words are in the English language). In Telugu it is Roudram Ranam Rudhiram and in Tamil it is Irattam Ranam Relattiram. All the conflicting multi-lingual interpretations to the RRR acronym could be a problem.

Rajamouli’s film titles have always been pithy, mostly one-worded like Eega, Magadheera, Baahubali. This is the first time he has selected multiple titles in different languages for the same film. Could be a matter of conflict for the film’s box office interests?

Modeling Agencies Feeling the Pain, Developing Digital Solutions

Modeling agencies are having their share of problems as they cope with the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic. Like most industries, their challenges range from slow payments to layoffs to little or no work for their models. The situation also extends to makeup artists, hairstylists and photographers who, like models, are considered independent contractors. But agencies say they’re doing a lot more digitally to get their models work during this time, a trend that will likely continue as the world enters this new, abnormal normal. According to Susan Scafidi, founder and director of the Fashion Law Institute at Fordham Law School, under the CARES Act, “models along with the other independent contractors who make up the fabric of the fashion industry — photographers, stylists, makeup artists, and so on — can apply for special Pandemic Unemployment Assistance guaranteed by the federal government and administered by each state.” She said that even models who are non U.S. citizens but are working here legally may be eligible. She said individuals must certify that they cannot work for one of a list of specific reasons related to the coronavirus, ranging from personal illness or caregiving responsibilities to workplace shutdown. “Models who work remotely as paid influencers,

In his new role, Mantovani reports to Amandine Ohayon, the group’s chief executive officer. His plan is to provide strategic leadership for the U.S. and Canada. The executive brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the luxury sector. The company has distribution in more than 4,000 retailers in 105 countries. In addition, Pronovias has freestanding stores in New York, London, Milan, Paris and other outposts. As the coronavirus continues to seep around the world, locking down cities big and small, and causing millions to self-quarantine or abide by stay-at-home and shelter-in-place edicts, the bridal industry is among the many sectors that has been leveled as a result. With brides forced to cancel weddings and many wedding-related retailers shuttered indefinitely. Earlier this month Pronovias said that it was expanding

Facebook Pledges $100M to Help Struggling Media Amid Coronavirus

Could Facebook be local media’s knight in shining armor? The tech giant, which has been trying to change its public image after a series of damaging incidents, has unveiled an additional $100 million investment to support the news industry. This includes a $25 million emergency grant fund for local news through the Facebook Journalism Project, and $75 million in additional marketing spend to move money over to news organizations around the world. “The news industry is working under extraordinary conditions to keep people informed during the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when journalism is needed more than ever, ad revenues are declining due to the economic impact of the virus,” Campbell Brown, vice president of global new partnerships, said in a blog post. “Local journalists are being hit especially hard, even as people turn to them for critical information to keep their friends, families and communities safe,” she added. Indeed, a number of alt-weeklies across the U.S. have been forced to lay off staff or suspend print editions as they struggle to tread water amid plunging advertising revenues as their biggest clients — local restaurants, bars, retail and festivals — temporarily shut up shop. Nor is it just local media that is struggling as a surge

As reported, Italy has been in lockdown since March 9 and all nonessential activities have been shut down until April 3, although the government is expected this week to extend the closure, probably at least until April 18. As of March 29, the Civil Protection reported 97,689 infected citizens and 10,779 deaths in Italy. New Dates Revealed for 2020 Summer Olympics

The 2020 Summer Olympics officially have a new date. The International Olympic Committee revealed on Monday that the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo will now be held from July 23 to Aug. 8, 2021. The Paralympic Games will follow on Aug. 24 to Sept. 5, 2021. “These new dates give the health authorities and all involved in the organization of the Games the maximum time to deal with the constantly changing landscape and the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the IOC said in a statement. “The new dates, exactly one year after those originally planned for 2020, also have the added benefit that any disruption that the postponement will cause to the international sports calendar can be kept to a minimum, in the interests of the athletes and the International Summer Olympic Sports Federation.” On March 24 Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and IOC president Thomas Bach confirmed the 2020 Summer Games would be postponed. A statement released by the International Olympic Committee read: “The leaders agreed that the Olympic Games in Tokyo could stand as a beacon of hope to the world during these troubled times and that the Olympic flame could become the light at the end of the tunnel in

While COVID-19 first emerged in Wuhan, China, affecting Asia at the start of the pandemic, the world has watched as both China and South Korea have significantly lowered the spread of the virus in their regions. “Although everything is under control, it’s getting better and better, but you know, everyone is still following the rules. We’re staying home. We’re washing our hands and paying attention…trying to stay clean and healthy.” He’s passing the time by creating

The cuts will be graduated, ranging from 5 percent for those earning less than $64,900 and as much as 25 percent for the company’s top earners. “It is clear that in the short term, the economy
