Ella Anderson Finds Her Rhythm in ‘Song Sung Blue’

While filming “Song Sung Blue,” Ella Anderson spent many nights falling asleep with Neil Diamond’s “Soolaimon” playing in her head on repeat. “I just remember laying in my bed, and all I heard was his voice,” says Anderson, who stars in the musical film about a Neil Diamond tribute band led by Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman.  Anderson is hopeful that viewers will also leave the theater with Diamond’s songs — and the resilience of the film’s characters — lingering in their memories.  Based on a true story, “Song Sung Blue” follows the relationship of two middle-age single parents in Wisconsin, both struggling gig musicians who join forces to form Neil Diamond tribute band “Lightning & Thunder.” Anderson stars in the film as Rachel, the teenage daughter of Hudson’s character, who is the “Thunder” to Jackman’s “Lightning.”  “Craig [Brewer; the director] brilliantly captured the perspective of Midwestern people who are musicians, that are oftentimes not playing for the massive crowds, but are playing for intimate crowds of real people who maybe had a long day at work, are grabbing a beer, and just wanna enjoy that connection that music can create in a room,” says Anderson, whose own parents are musicians from the

To offset the jumpsuit, Hudson opted for a pair of black, pointed-toe pumps with a jewel-encrusted embellishment. For glam, Hudson turned the talents of hairstylist Jacob Rozenberg and makeup artist Quinn Murphy for her Lauren Bacall-inspired look. The actress’ blond hair was styled with a side part and worn straight and down, with makeup highlights including bold brows, lightly lined eyes and a soft pink lip. The Key to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Holiday Looks This Year? Google’s Virtual Try-On Feature (Which Our Editors Tested Out)

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. The real-life Carrie Bradshaw steps out into the snow-dusted NYC streets looking, naturally, flawless. One minute, Sarah Jessica Parker is tempted by a roasted nuts vendor. The next, she’s sitting in a cozy, “Ralph Lauren Christmas”–coded living room, typing into her phone the following prompt: “I’m shopping for an outfit that has a classic holiday New York City vibe, perfect for a friend’s downtown party.” This isn’t a heart-to-heart with ChatGPT but a snippet of a campaign video depicting SJP’s latest obsession: Google Shopping’s AI–powered try-on tool that helps users not only pick out and shop for a spot-on getup across various occasions but also see how billions of apparel listings will look on their own bod (or that of their gift recipient) once the clothing in question is unwrapped and put on. In the aforementioned campaign, shot by Chloe Horseman and directed by Max Bartick, Parker ends up settling on a bow-bedecked cocktail dress that we can easily imagine taking her from the holiday dinner to that downtown soirée in no time. Dandelion, the West Village’s newest cocktail bar, has taken root. The late-night bar is the latest project from Eytan Sugarman and Will Makris, a duo that brings collective downtown nightlife experience that spans members club Zero Bond, historic bar White Horse Tavern, and Hunt & Fish Club. Sugarman took over the 115 Christopher Street space, located between Bleecker and Hudson streets, a little over a year ago. A lunch with Makris, a longtime friend, led to their first collaborative project.  ”We wanted this to be a place that was very different than the other places either one of us owned,” says Sugarman. “We’re really focusing on the cocktail program, small bites and the experience. Everything in there is part of the story. We have a curated music list. Our lighting is something we really thought about. Placement of the furniture, uniforms — everything really comes together in a way to tell the story.” The bar room at Dandelion. Gwyneth Paltrow’s Daughter Apple Martin Wears Her Mom’s Calvin Klein Collection Dress to the ‘Marty Supreme’ Premiere

Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter Apple Martin went back into the archives — and into her mother’s closet — for the Calvin Klein Collection dress she wore to the premiere of “Marty Supreme” in New York City on Tuesday night. The black dress, which hails from the mid-1990s, features a black scoop neckline and halter-style straps with a formfitting silhouette, long flowing skirt and cutout at the back. The dress made Martin, whom Paltrow shares with former husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, appear even more statuesque than the 21-year-old model does ordinarily. The brand hosted a launch party for its newest bag at Upper East Side haunt Chez Fifi in New York, inviting an intimate crowd out for a night of games, drinks and a chance to toast the end of the year. A nearby shuffleboard — with Valentino-branded pucks — provided a prime photo backdrop, and trays of tic-tac-toe and decks of cards were laid out on small cocktail tables throughout the room. The games were all courtesy of Valentino. Also courtesy of Valentino: the DeVain bags slung over almost everyone’s shoulders or tucked underneath their arms. “Valentino has always been one of my dream brands since I was a little girl,” said Dove Cameron, sporting a colorful sequined version of the bag. “They’re very full of whimsy, very full of fantasy. Floral Authority 1-800-Flowers Has Spoken: Delphinium is 2026’s Flower of the Year and Money Trees Are the Plants of the Year

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. Here’s something you might not have known before: Each year, 1-800-Flowers, a leader in fresh flower delivery services, announces a Flower of the Year and Plant of the Year. Today’s reveal for 2026 follows closely on the heals of Pantone’s controversial Color of the Year pick — the airy, nebulous, and all-white Cloud Dancer. Now, horticulturalists and amateur green thumbs, much like their color-obsessed counterparts, can also ring in the new year by embracing the latest cultural “It” thing, all while blessing their abodes with instant color and positive energy. The flora that will reign supreme next year, according to 1-800-Flowers? The delphinium and the money tree. While the former is a vividly blue (or lavender) flower that shoots up to the sky in vertical fashion, so eager it is to meet the sun’s warmth, the latter is a well-known symbol of wealth and good luck according to ancient feng shui traditions. The two couldn’t be more different, but the decision to spotlight them in the year ahead — individually or as part of floral arrangements, designed and hand-delivered by local florists —

Lauren Halsey and Google Shopping Host Dinner During Art Basel Miami Beach

As she welcomed guests into dinner on Thursday evening, Google Shopping’s Stephanie Horton began by addressing the biggest theme of the week. “Welcome, thank you. I know the traffic’s awful,” Horton, the company’s senior director of global consumer marketing, said to the room. Those who had successfully battled Miami’s notoriously bad traffic during Art Basel week included Mickalene Thomas, Savannah James, Ravyn Lenae, Kimberly Drew, Yvonne Force Villareal and George Wells, who had gathered inside the Matador Room at The Edition on Miami Beach for a private dinner celebrating artist Lauren Halsey. Sadly, the artist herself was unable to travel for a medical emergency, and sent word via Gagosian’s Kathy Paciello. “Nothing would’ve made me happier than hanging in Miami with all of you tonight, celebrating and sharing this moment together,” Halsey had written in. “This is our fourth year during this event and I think for me the best part, it’s the ability to honor so many amazing artists and have their work be accessible,” Horton said. The evening featured a special hat Halsey had designed, available on Google Shopping, one of which was placed on each table for guests to wear throughout dinner.  “This year Lauren created these amazing hats that are

The 14 Best Under-Eye Patches That Can Fake a Great Night’s Sleep, Vetted by Editors

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. Newsflash: A pair of under-eye masks isn’t going to change your life or make you look 10 years younger. But anything that helps you take care of your skin and have fun in the process is a good thing. To our editors, the best under-eye patches are prized accessories in a well-rounded skin care routine — and self-care routine, for that matter (something that’s important year-round, but especially during winter). Compared to other areas of the complexion, the skin around our eyes is delicate and thin. This means that the facial region is often the first to show signs of fatigue, dehydration, and a poor night’s sleep — manifesting in swelling, dullness, dark circles, or a combination of the three. Under-eye patches are designed to be targeted treatments that bless their users with a quicker relief for their skin concerns than what’s to be expected with a classic eye cream. But do under-eye patches actually work? That depends on your expectations, according to our experts. They won’t give you an instant eye lift nor will they cure dark circles for good, but these products can provide

When Upside-down Logic Makes Sense

The Hungarian Countess Louise J. Esterhazy was a revered — and feared — chronicler of the highs — and generally lows — of fashion, society, culture and more. It seems the Esterhazy clan by nature is filled with strong opinions, because WWD Weekend has been contacted by the Countess’ long-lost nephew, the Baron Louis J. Esterhazy, who has written from Europe to express his abhorrence of numerous modern fashion and cultural developments. The Baron’s pen is as sharp as his late aunt’s and here is his latest column on logic — or the lack thereof. Over the years I am frequently knocked sideways and often amused at what one can only best describe as wildly “odd ball” logic. Yet many a time there’s a weird type of intellectual rigor about it, despite it being entirely wrong.I recently was chatting with a Turkish friend who has lived in the U.S. for years. She described how she was accompanying her aged parents on a road trip down the Eastern Seaboard. At one point, with her parents both seated in the back of the car, as they approached a large high river-spanning bridge, her mother and father suddenly gave each other a conspiratorial glance and then, in the

Cynthia Nixon Is Back on Broadway With ‘Marjorie Prime’

A true story: Cynthia Nixon is at Sardi’s right now.  Well, a version of her. The actress’ caricature portrait hangs on the back wall of the restaurant’s first-floor dining room, alongside illustrations of other actors who have made their mark on New York theater. Nixon’s likeness, which depicts her sky-blue eyes and signature blonde bob, joined the ranks in 2017, the year she won her second Tony award.  In mid-November, the actress is seated in a corner at the iconic Broadway haunt, conveniently right next door to the Hayes Theater, where she’s starring in “Marjorie Prime.” Inside the theater, the walls of the set are getting a final coat of seafoam paint ahead of the show’s first preview performance later that week. The show’s opening night, set for Dec. 8, wasn’t far away. With a copy of her script on the table, Nixon orders the salmon, an early lunch ahead of the day’s tech rehearsal. So far, so good. “Knock on wood,” says Nixon, the silverware on the table jangling as she does just that.  “Marjorie Prime” marks Nixon’s first time on Broadway since her award-winning featured role in Lillian Hellman’s play “The Little Foxes.” A lot has happened since then. “ I did a play

Christiani Pitts Brings ‘Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)’ Home to Broadway

In the opening scene of “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York),” lifelong New Yorker Robin gets to see her hometown through the eyes of an outsider. Cardboard sign in hand, she meets Dougal, a young Brit, at the airport, who’s arrived in town for his estranged father’s wedding to Robin’s sister. Before you know it, the pair are en route to Manhattan and Dougal is belting out his excitement for the Big Apple in a catchy pop-song tribute to the city.  Costars Sam Tutty and Christiani Pitts have moved well beyond the strangers stage as Broadway costars. The show has a two-person cast, and the pair share the stage for practically the entire runtime. The new musical lands on Broadway after a well-received run in London’s West End, followed by a production in Cambridge, Mass., this past summer. “ Which was so low key compared to this,” says Pitts, who starred in the Stateside production along with Tutty, who began the Dougal role in London. “ The stakes are higher in a lot of beautiful ways,” adds Pitts. “But because we got to work things out in Cambridge, the show feels like it’s finally home.” It’s a literal homecoming for the show, which

Lilly Pulitzer Is Hungry for the Future. Its Spring 2026 Collection, Though, Reaches Back Into the Archives.

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. The seaplane whizzing above Lilly Pulitzer’s spring 2026 runway show, staged at Key West’s classy, upscale Casa Marina hotel, was no coincidence. The Lilly team — detail-obsessed and lighthearted all at once — used the opening detail to honor one of their brand founder’s most iconic, caught-on-camera moments, when Pulitzer is seen dashing out of a just-landed plane, circa 1963, with multiple fabric swatches in hand. While the grand entrance’s significance went over the heads (literally and figuratively) of many of the show’s front-row attendees, it was clearly taken straight from the archives, just like the SS26 Lilly Pulitzer launch at large. The label’s Vintage Vault is as extensive as you can imagine, with many of the original (and now-reissued) prints having been hand-painted right in Key West, making the presentation a kind of homecoming. The Vault goes all the way back to 1962, a few years after the label hit the ground running out of Palm Beach, Florida, 200-plus miles north of the Keys — a location that influenced the brand’s aesthetic footprint in no insignificant way.
