The Best Dressed Stars in Grammys History

The Grammy Awards return Sunday, this year held in Los Angeles, and with them come one of the boldest red carpets in all of celebrity land.  Easily the best Grammys fashion moment of all time is Jennifer Lopez, whose green Versace cleavage-baring dress at the 2000 Grammy Awards was so attention-grabbing it was the launch of Google Images. It’s going to take a long time — and a big effort — for anyone to match that moment.  Jennifer Lopez at the 2000 Grammy Awards in Versace. Other best dressed moments in Grammys history include Lady Gaga, no stranger to a best-dressed list, in Armani at the 2010 awards. Cardi B earned her spot in fashion history at the 2019 ceremony, when she arrived in a vintage Mugler look that was ahead of the current red carpet trend of vintage dressing. Cher’s 1974 look, a white butterfly bikini top and matching hair clip, is best-dressed worthy, as is the matching white looks from Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson at the 1993 Grammys. Hillary Clinton, Alongside Yulia Navalnaya, Stresses the Importance of Democracy at ‘Navalny’ Doc Screening in New York

On Thursday night, Hillary Clinton and Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, gathered an intimate crowd for a screening of the “Navalny” documentary at MoMA. The event was held two weeks before the one-year anniversary of Navalny’s death while in Russian custody, and two years since the CNN-produced Oscar-winning film first premiered at Sundance. Before the screening, guests gathered outside the Celeste Bartos Theater, where Clinton mingled with the crowd. Guests included Patricia Clarkson, Katie Couric, Gina Gershon, Michael Avedon, Alex Lundqvist, and Fern Mallis, along with “Navalny” producers Odessa Rae, Diane Becker, and Melanie Miller, and investigative reporter Christo Grozev, who is featured in the film. Mikhail Baryshnikov, who defected from the Soviet Union fifty years ago, descended the building stairs alongside Navalnaya, and the pair posed for photos next to a poster of the film. Mikhail Baryshnikov Inside the movie theater, Clinton told the crowd that she finds Navalny’s story significant, because it serves as a reminder of the importance of standing up for freedom and democracy “everywhere in the world, wherever human rights or freedom or democracy or the rule of law are threatened,” she said. Clinton and Navalnaya were both at the Munich Security Conference last year

The Best Makeup in Grammys History: Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Cher and More Iconic Red Carpet Looks

The 67th annual Grammy Awards will soon be upon us — and so, too, will the striking makeup looks donned by its A-list attendees. Last year, it was Miley Cyrus’ rocker-chic glam by makeup artist James Kaliardos that stole the show, developed using Pat McGrath Labs products to complement her custom Maison Martin Margiela gown made of gold safety pins. Miley Cyrus Other memorable looks of late have included “Paint the Town Red” rapper Doja Cat’s 2021 all-black smoky eye, or when Ariana Grande in 2020 paired her icy-blond locks with a nude-toned makeup look, giving her then-signature cat-eye flick an elevated boost. But the Grammy Awards have long seen their fair share of iconic looks — from Lil’ Kim’s many full-glam (and often, color-coordinated) appearances to mohawk-era Rihanna’s 2010 frosty eye shadow and lip gloss to boot. Lil’ Kim This year, Trevor Noah will host the Grammy Awards, where nominees for Album of the Year include Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter,” Charli XCX’s summer anthem-filled “Brat,” Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” and more. Ariana Grande Pop newcomer Chappell Roan — known for her dramatic makeup flair — is nominated for seven awards, among them Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year and more. SZA,

Rhode Skin’s Highly-anticipated Peptide Lip Shape Is Here to Level Up the Way You Line Your Lips

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. Rhode Skin, Hailey Bieber’s skin care-inspired beauty brand, has a track record for creating products that toe the line between multiple categories: Think a hydrating toner that doubles as a highlighter, lip balms that create the sheen of a gloss, and blushes with the emollience of a great moisturizer. With her latest launch, the Peptide Lip Shape, Rhode Skin isn’t just offering a multitasking lip product, but leveling up the lip liner category as a whole. Because lip liners are designed to define your lip shape and create a long-lasting framework for you to fill in with a lipstick of your choosing, many on the market err chalky and dry. This is great for extending the wear time of your lip look, but tends to be uncomfortable — particularly for those with dry skin, chapped lips, or really any lipstick lover during cold winter months. The issue with hydrating your lips prior to applying a lip liner, of course, is that the moisturizing properties of a balm or lip mask prevent a liner’s pigments from transferring onto your lips. Holding your breath? It’s the Classic Whip Glow sunscreen (made for the body and face), which comes infused with foam-whipped gold shimmer that treats skin to a radiant glow. Notable past credits: Tovey starred as John O’Shea in “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.” Other projects include “American Horror Story: NYC” and the HBO series “Looking.” Russell Tovey ”I’ve always been drawn to familial stories,” says Tovey, in Park City, Utah, ahead of the Sundance premiere for “Plainclothes,” directed and written by first-time feature filmmaker Carmen Emmi. “This film feels very domestic. It’s huge for emotions, but it’s simple: it’s two people meeting.” Set in the 90s, “Plainclothes” is about an undercover cop, played by Blyth, in Syracuse, N.Y., who entraps gay men at a mall. But when the cop meets Tovey’s character Andrew, it’s love — and lust — at first sight. Neither men are publicly out about their sexuality, and the situation is further complicated; Andrew is married with children.   “ Fundamentally it’s a romance. And kind of a tricky romance; a coming-of-age romance,” Tovey says of the film. “What I love about that dynamic is that my character could be a bastard, could take advantage and be cold. Michelle Yeoh Wears Balenciaga-Designed Looks in New ‘Star Trek: Station 31’

After first meeting on the set of “Star Trek: Discovery,” Michelle Yeoh and costume designer Gersha Phillips have reunited on a new “Star Trek” project — and this time, they brought Balenciaga into the mix.  “Star Trek: Section 31” is a new original movie that premiered on Paramount+ on Friday, starring Oscar winner — and face of Balenciaga — Yeoh.  “When we finally were going to do ‘Section 31,’ there were some key people I really, really needed, not just wanted, but needed, to give a little bit of continuity, and more important, their creativity, to make [her character] Philippa Georgiou be relatable,” Yeoh says.  By the time the project was beginning, Yeoh had become the face of Balenciaga, and knew that Phillips was a fan of Demna’s work at the brand. Phillips attended the show in Paris, after which Yeoh pitched the idea to Balenciaga. The Diptyque Valentine’s Day Candle Duo That Sold Out in Hours Last Year Is Back and Better Than Ever

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. The moment you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived: Just like last year, French perfumer Diptyque launched a Valentine’s Day candle duo featuring two bestselling scents, and 2025’s design looks chicer than ever. Last February, viral TikTok unboxing videos of the Diptyque Valentine’s Day limited-edition candles reached a fever pitch — not only expressing appreciation for (and, dare we say, obsession over) the candles’ heart-shaped design in cherry red and sandy pink but also their divine smell. Presently, TikTok users are also jumping at the opportunity to film their V-Day candles from Diptyque in tranquil bedroom settings, with comments expressing the sentiment that this is just the sign users needed to finally buy their own. In 2025, like in the year prior, the duo’s scents are Baies and Roses. While the former is meant to evoke fresh-picked blackcurrant berries with a subtle touch of rose, the latter is a full-on rose moment — reminiscent of dew-embellished petals on a spring day in May. Both, in other words, are an antidote to the bitter winter cold many of us are experiencing as we speak.

Taylor Swift’s Flattering Fleur du Mal Date Night Dress Is Back in Stock — For Now.

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. Ever the proponent of donning classic fashion styles over trend-driven pieces, Taylor Swift once again made the case for stocking up on perfect wardrobe staples on a recent date night with Travis Kelce. The “Bejeweled” singer was spotted on Dec. 28 in New York City en route to members-only club Chez Margaux, hand-in-hand with Kelce in an appropriately sparkling ensemble. The night’s real MVP wasn’t her football player beau, but rather, her cocktail dress, the Fleur du Mal Long Sleeve Flared Corset Dress that’s back in stock after selling out quickly this winter. Swift’s night-out style proved just why a little black dress remains such a versatile closet essential. It provided a blank canvas for an otherwise blinged-out outfit comprised of a Simkhai rhinestone-adorned black “Gianni” trench coat and a Stella McCartney crystal fringe “Falabella” silver handbag. Swift’s jewelry styling included a mix of fine and fashion: She wore the De Beers “Arpeggia” diamond line earrings, and a Bonbonwhims costume jewelry “Heart Gumdrop” tennis necklace. Minimal Christian Louboutin Movida sandals rounded out the look. Taylor Swift wears Fleur du Mal’s Flared Corset Dress

East Hampton’s The Hedges Inn Bought by Andrew and Sarah Wetenhall of The Colony Palm Beach

Those in East Hampton, N.Y., who prefer everything from a quiet breakfast to late night table service are in luck. After last summer’s drama, in which Scott Sartiano tried to buy The Hedges Inn and make it into a Hamptons outpost of Zero Bond, much to the dismay of locals, new proprietors have taken ownership — and they plan to keep much of what makes the hotel beloved the same. Andrew and Sarah Wetenhall, owners of The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Fla., since 2016, have purchased The Hedges Inn from the Cumming family, with plans to be open after some minor updates for this coming summer season.  Sarah Wetenhall says it’s hard to think of something that isn’t appealing about owning the property, which was originally built in 1873 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in East Hampton. “It is ideally situated as the closest inn to Main Beach in East Hampton, but also walking distance to the village. Its location, its historic nature and frankly its untapped potential to be open and of service to the community are really what attracted us,” she says. “It is the cornerstone of East Hampton village. Listrak Launches First RCS Marketing Campaign in the U.S. With Dooney & Bourke, Boosting Retail Communication

Here’s a first: Listrak, the retail cross-channel marketing platform, said Tuesday that it was the sole marketing platform provider to launch a Rich Communication Services, or RCS, marketing campaign in the U.S. RCS is an interactive communications channel that allows users to send and receive text-like messages, voice calls, video calls, and multimedia files directly from a phone’s messaging app, Listrak said. RCS has more than one billion uses globally. To run a test campaign on RCS, Listrak teamed with its client, Dooney & Bourke. The test was launched during the 2024 holiday season and demonstrated that RCS more than doubled revenue per send compared to traditional SMS/MMS campaigns. “With wireless carriers rolling out support for RCS in the U.S. in 2025, Dooney & Bourke gained early access to the elevated messaging experience via enabled carriers through its long-standing e-commerce marketing partner, Listrak, in collaboration with global cloud communications platform Infobip,” Listrak said in a statement. Listrak said the marketing team at Dooney & Bourke “worked seamlessly” with the company and Infobip experts to identify subscribers who would be able to receive RCS messaging. After opening “The Notebook” on Broadway last spring, the actress is back onstage starring in the much-anticipated revival of “Gypsy,” which opened in late December. “This is my second time opening a Broadway show — and the first time we did it right before the award season started,” says Woods, adding that she’s enjoyed “being able to start this early and get months of a run in before all that craziness starts. And not having to worry about the extra stuff until months from now.” Those “months from now” are growing ever closer. The show is officially open, and buzz for the new production of the musical, directed by George C. Wolfe, continues to build.  “Getting to have the audience there [in the theater] and feeling their excitement about what I consider one of the greatest musicals of all time — feeling validated in my opinion on that, and seeing that people were enjoying it the same way that I do — was really wonderful,” says Woods. Joy Woods Audra McDonald leads the cast as overbearing showmom Mama Rose, who enthusiastically dedicates herself to managing the vaudeville careers of her daughters, June and Louise. Woods stars as Louise, who

The Inside Scoop on Transforming Retail Tech with Skypad

In this episode of WWD Voices, host Arthur Zaczkiewicz chats with Jeanette Duke, director of marketing at Sky IT Group, about innovations in retail technology. She explains the limitations of traditional Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), particularly EDI 852, which has not adapted to modern retail needs such as detailed insights into sales trends, markdowns and promotional activities. EDI 852 only provides basic transaction-level data, which often lacks accuracy and depth, especially in tracking returns and discounts. To listen to this episode, CLICK HERE. Left to right: Jay Hakami, Jeanette Duke and Gil Hakami. Duke calls in from the National Retail Federation Big Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Jan. 13. The event, one of the world’s largest retail trade shows, features around 40,000 retailers and 1,000 vendors, including Sky IT Group. The company was at the show, spotlighting its Skypad platform, which is designed to transform sales and inventory reporting. Duke explained how Skypad integrates more effectively with current retail systems, offering customization, better historical data access and connectivity through an API (Application Programming Interface) and FTP (File Transfer Protocol).

7 Dermatologist-Approved Winter Skin Care Routines That Experts Swear By

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. Our skin may be our largest organ and appear relatively adaptable and dynamic, but in truth, it’s incredibly sensitive and reactive to its surroundings. And no time is its frailty more apparent than wintertime. “During the winter, there is less humidity in the air, which puts our skin at risk for drying out,” says board-certified dermatologist Lindsey Zubritsky. In addition to dry, cold air, add harsh winds, heavy snowfall, and extreme temperature fluctuations from heated homes — and you have a recipe for a skin disaster. These conditions can not only dry out skin and damage the skin barrier, but also lead to an exacerbation of conditions like rosacea, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and more, says Dr. Zubritsky. All this and more is exactly why your dermatologist wants you to switch up your skin care products during the colder season. From the most recommended skin care essentials to vital lifestyle changes (hello humidifiers!), here is everything you need to know about winter skin care routines, all from the brilliant guidance of your favorite board-certified dermatologists.  Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky While Dr. Zubritsky, a Mississippi-based board-certified

The Changing Landscape for Valuations and Loans

To listen to the podcast on Retail Rx, click here. As long as there have been brands and retailers, there’s been the need to evaluate their worth— whether for a sale, asset-backed loan, licensing deal, brand spinoff, or in the worst-case scenario, liquidation. The landscape for valuations and loans has changed considerably over the decades, and continues to do so today. In this episode of WWD Voices for Retail Rx, Lauren Parker, director of Fairchild Studio, chats with Ben Nortman, co-chief commercial officer at Hilco Global, who has seen the landscape evolve considerably in his 28 years at the company. Ben Nortman “There has been tremendous change and a lot of creativity and ingenuity from the capital markets to help retailers access more capital, and that has really changed over time,” said Nortman. “The two main assets on the balance sheet are really the inventory and the brand. And in some cases, those brands have real value, either in place or segregated out in a brand licensing strategy.” To that end, added Nortman, there’s been an onset of companies that will buy brands out of bad retailers in a liquidation scenario and pay real money for those brands, and people that are willing

From Another Record WNBA Season to Brad Pitt’s F1 Blockbuster — The Culture Moments to Watch Out for in 2025

They embraced the “brat” mindset last summer, were briefly very invested in pommel horse (and not sure what to make of breakdancing as a sport) during the Olympics, and witnessed the second demise of Bennifer. But while some of 2024’s drama continues to play out, other developments are a welcome addition to 2025. We’re here for WNBA’s continued surge in popularity and more Chappell Roan, who’s slated to perform at Elton John’s Oscars watch party.  2024 delivered buzzy film releases from “Challengers” in the spring to the fall double-header of “Wicked” and “Gladiator 2” — not quite a Barbenheimer redux, but still a welcome theatrical pairing.  Oscar nominations will be announced later this month, and the awards race is still very much up in the air after several surprise wins at the Golden Globes and recent Screen Actors Guild nominations. Will Demi Moore get her first Oscars nod for “The Substance”? Will “Wicked” be a serious contender? The 2025 film buzz builds shortly after the Academy Awards with Disney’s latest live action film “Snow White,” which stars Rachel Zegler in the titular role. The film comes out March 21, a few weeks after the slated release of Oscar-winning Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s new

Macy’s Is Closing 66 Stores in 2025 — Here’s the List, Live Updates

Macy’s Inc. on Thursday disclosed the locations of the 66 stores it will close this year, a list that includes the Macy’s department store in downtown Brooklyn. In New York City, Macy’s is also shuttering its Staten Island furniture store, and the Macy’s Backstage off-price stores in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn; Fordham Place in the Bronx, and Queens Place in Queens. The downsizing, which is part of the retailer’s Bold New Chapter strategy announced in February 2024, calls for closing approximately 150 underproductive stores while investing in its 350 “go-forward” Macy’s locations, all through fiscal 2026. Last month, Macy’s upped its store closing count this year to 66 from 55, as previously reported. A customer shops at a department store of Macy’s which is soon to be closed on February 27, 2024 in Alameda County, California. Macy’s announced on February 27 that the company plans to close approximately 150 stores by the end of 2026. Among other Macy’s department store closings are the locations in Boynton Beach, Fla.; Philadelphia City Center, and Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, N.Y. “Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and

Here’s Where You Can Buy Nicole Kidman’s ‘Babygirl’ Personalized Charm Necklace

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. Nicole Kidman has come a long way since her first feature film role in the Australian drama “Bush Christmas.” Her acting credits in movies like “Practical Magic,” “Moulin Rouge!” “The Hours,” “Boy Erased,” and “Lion” (not to mention that by-now-iconic AMC Theaters commercial) have secured her the unofficial title of everyone’s favorite Australian, and it’s safe to say that the star is currently as relevant as she’s ever been. Kidman’s constant presence in the public eye is also great news for fashion lovers, who seem to be quite inspired by her elegant and smart style sensibilities. The backless, rhinestone-embroidered dress she wore at the 2025 Golden Globes, for instance, has been the talk of the town ever since her appearance on the red carpet. The actress holds so much cultural sway that her on-screen style, too, is just as lust-worthy as what she wears in everyday life. Playing the wealthy matriarch Greer Garrison Winbury in Netflix’s buzzy show “The Perfect Couple,” her snappy suits and pale blue dresses were the objects of much adoration. Alan Cumming Ups the Ante With Theatrical Looks in ‘The Traitors’ Season Three

Alan Cumming has been on TV since the ’80s — long enough for friends and family to get used to seeing him onscreen. But his role hosting “Traitors” has them starstruck all over again. “When this started, so many people were texting me, and being really sort of expressive and really excited about it,” says the celebrated theater and screen actor, in New York shortly before the end of the year. “So that’s when I knew it had hit a nerve.” “Do you remember when I said to you, ‘I think this is becoming a thing’?” says stylist Sam Spector, addressing Cumming seated a few feet away. The pair had convened within Spector’s styling studio to revisit the fashion from the show’s new season. “Because I was completely surprised. I’ve worked on so many projects, TV shows with other clients, just dressing them as themselves, that make it or don’t — but this became something special,” adds Spector. Peacock’s murder mystery show, set within a Scottish castle, returns for a third season on Thursday with a motley cast of figures from across the reality show universe: Boston Rob and Tony from “Survivor,” Bob the Drag Queen from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and

The 10 Most Popular Beauty Products Used at the 2025 Golden Globes

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. The Golden Globes this year were nothing if not memorable, and celebrities on the red carpet dressed in a way that put forward key trends we’ll be thinking about for a long time to come: glamorous opera gloves, black-and-white styles, and sheer dresses (plus capes!) included. Patterns, however, were seen not only in outfit choices but also the beauty looks created by A-listers’ glam teams. We witnessed a lot of shimmery eyeshadows that brought both camera-ready sparkle and a kind of eye-opening effect; in the hair department, the co-host of WWD’s Eye on the Red Carpet and “Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness pointed out the prevalence of movement in locks no matter their length. As soon as stars hit the red carpet on Jan. 5, our beauty editors started thorough research of the exact products used by their makeup artists to achieve looks spanning from the skin-forward and restrained to the high-glam and fully contoured. Soon, we honed in on many similarities and parallels, which included cult-favorite products seen on red carpets in years past. The Chanel Rouge Coco Baume

The 8 Best Glitter Eyeshadows to Master the Sparkly Eye Trend, Tested & Reviewed

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. A glitter resurgence is upon us. Previously reserved for sparkly holidays and tweens on TikTok, permission to wear glitter eyeshadow every day has been granted.  The spring 2025 runways ushered in the return of glimmering glam, from a soft wash of sparkle to a full-on holographic glitter-fest. These trends emerged in full force last night at the Golden Globes. There’s a common misconception that people of a certain age shouldn’t wear glitter eyeshadow at all, but you’ve been lied to. It’s true that shimmery shades can highlight crepey skin, but with proper placement, anyone can rock one of 2025’s biggest beauty trends. (Pro tip: Just focus the glitter on the flat of the lid, avoiding the saggier areas near your crease, and you’re good to go.) You can trust me on this. I earned my professional makeup certification in 2006, but I majored in glitter long before then. My foray into sparkle started in the early y2k era when I patted Claire’s loose glitter onto a smear of Vaseline. (When we know better, we do better.) Since then I’ve upped my glitter game,

Tracee Ellis Ross Honored as Hollywood Trailblazer at WWD Style Awards: A Lifelong Fashion Journey From Vintage Finds to Designer Dreams

Receiving the WWD Style Award for Hollywood Trailblazer is validating for the lifelong fashion lover Tracee Ellis Ross. “It’s justification that my shopping has been worth it,” Ross said. The actress has been fashion obsessed ever since she was a toddler, posing for a photo in her mother Diana Ross’ high heels while clutching her favorite stuffed Tweety Bird.  Tracee Ellis Ross at the Schiaparelli fall 2023 couture show on July 3, 2023, in Paris. “That was just the beginning of me ravaging my mother’s closet,” she said. “For me, how I dress myself is really a form of expression, and it’s one of the ways that I wear my insides on my outside,” Ross added. “It started as an armor, a way that I would feel protected, and now it’s just one of the ways I express myself and it brings me so much joy. I really feel like there’s an importance to how we express ourselves, particularly in the world that we’re living in. How I dress is one of the ways that I show up in the world and tell people how I want to be responded to.” While many fashion lovers are collectors, Ross buys to wear. Her sense of style —

With a striking chain and a glittering heart-shaped gem at its center, it looks like real diamonds — which wouldn’t surprise us, considering the wearer is no other than the richest female musician in the world. The Heart Gumdrop Tennis Necklace, however, is completely attainable, what with being $160. It’s also yet another manifestation of Swift’s penchant for tennis-style jewelry. Anna Sawai Is WWD’s Style Awards Fashion Newcomer to Watch on the Red Carpet

Anna Sawai, the winner of WWD’s inaugural Fashion Newcomer style award, knows the power of a red carpet — and red dress — statement. Last year, the “Shogun” star chose to wear a custom look by Vera Wang for her history-making win at the 2024 Emmy Awards. The actress was the first actress of Asian descent to win the award for best leading actress in a drama series, and the first Japanese actress to ever win an Emmy. “It was very meaningful to me to be able to wear Vera’s dress at my first Emmys, that also could have been — and ended up somehow becoming — a historical moment,” says Sawai, reflecting on the evening a few months after the ceremony. Now a few weeks before the Golden Globe awards, the actress, 32, is getting ready to fly to Japan from Australia, where she’s spent half the year filming the second season of Godzilla series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” for Apple TV+. She’ll return to set after a short break for the holidays and a trip to LA for the WWD Style Awards and Golden Globes, where she’s nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series —
