Around Town at the Spring 2020 Trade Shows
Spring highlights came in all sizes, shapes, styles and colors at several New York trade shows, which took place last week. COTERIE RolaRola Courtesy Photo BRAND: RolaRola DESIGNER: Min Sook Song BACKSTORY: This Korean brand launched in the summer of 2017. The concept is cute, practical, girly and preppie style. The line is a favorite of several K-pop idols such as Twice, Red Velvet and Girls’ Generation. The brand is geared to a young woman in her late teens to early 20s, and is focused on daily life, swim life and fitness/yoga. The company’s three concepts: happy, healthy and humorous. KEY STYLES: There are tie-dyed T-shirts, one-pieces with sailor collars, and pastel T-shirts, some of which have graphics such as “Sunshine on My Mind,” or “Have Fun. Play Hard.” WHOLESALE PRICES: $15 to $40. Milly Courtesy Photo BRAND: Milly DESIGNER: Cindy Huang, vice president of design BACKSTORY: The contemporary brand was started by Michelle Smith and her then-husband Andrew Oshrin in 2000. The couple has since split up and the brand was sold to S. Rothschild & Co., the 138-year-old privately held diversified apparel company, last April.
