In January this year, it was reported that the Gully Boy pair Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will be reuniting for a love story by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. The film will also be directed by Karan Johar.

Now, with Ranveer Singh all set to wrap his film Cirkus with Rohit Shetty, it is being reported that Karan Johar's film will go on floors in the month of June or July and will reportedly be shot at some real locations in India. The two actors will be undergoing some acting workshops ahead of the film going on floors to understand their characters better.

As per reports on an entertainment portal, the film will also see Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's son Ibrahim Ali Khan as assistant director. Ibrahim, who is still in college, has no plans of getting launched as an actor for now but is keen to understand the process of filmmaking.

The reports further state that Ranveer will be seen sporting a complete modern cool look in the film whereas Alia's character is said to be slightly subtle in comparison to Ranveer's character. The film is said to be a light hearted love story without any social message, the kind Dharma is known for.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar last directed the romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. While he has directed segments in Netflix original Lust Stories and Ghost Stories, this will be his next big screen directorial.

Taapsee Pannu is clearly on a roll. The actress, who has delivered some fantastic performances in the last two years, has one of the strongest line ups among actors of the current generation. While she has almost 4 films almost over - Do Baara, Rashmi Rocket, Haseen Dillruba and a South film, the Pink actress is currently prepping for her sports biopic Shabaash Mithu on Mithali Raj's life.

But now, we can tell you that the Mithali Raj biopic isn't the only sports biopic Taapsee is doing. A source says, "Taapsee has now been approached for the Sania Mirza biopic as well. This has been in the works for some time. Ronnie Screwvala bought the rights to her life. The makers wanted a younger actress to play Sania and after Parineeti Chopra playing Saina, they didn't want her to do it. They took the film to Taapsee who has liked the script."

Taapsee's team is currently working out the modalities for the same. Apart from the cricketer biopic, Taapsee is also in talks for Rajkumar Hirani's next with Shah Rukh Khan but according to latest reports, that film has got pushed. So, Taapsee might be able to accommodate the Sania Mirza biopic in that time frame now.

Badhaai Ho director Amit Sharma has fought his way out of Covid Positive. Speaking to me on the day his quarantine ended Amit said, “It happened in spite of all precautions. I had moved out of my home into a hotel for the last three months to work on my film Maidaan. The plan was to move back home, when I was detected Covid Positive.”

Luckily Amit’s family was out of station. “It is fortunate that my wife and son are out of town. They left for my wife’s parents’ home in Delhi for the next two months. So I was in quarantine in my home without the fear of infecting my wife or son. I missed my family. But I was relieved that they were not home with me. It would have been very difficult to keep my son away from me. Or for that matter, if I had not moved out my home for three months my wife and child would also have been susceptible to the virus. Though it was tough on me to manage with Covid on my own, I think it was plain good fortune that my family was spared.”

Amit counsels everyone to exercise the optimum caution. “There should be no slackening of guidelines. We are back to shooting. By doing so we are vulnerable to infection. But it can’t be helped. Work has to go on. Thousands of livelihoods depend on it. At the same time we should be very careful. Covid19 is not going away for a while.”

Anand Pandit’s Chehre, directed by Rumy Jafry has received an overwhelming response from not only the audience but critics as well. Ever since the makers released the posters, teasers and the trailer, the anticipation to watch the ensemble cast on the big screens, for the first time, has been building day by day.

After the lockdown last year, many filmmakers were awaiting the release of their upcoming films in 2021. Even though the theatres and other establishments are functioning smoothly across the country, the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases is a matter of concern. Considering the situation the nation is going through and keeping the safety of fans in mind, Anand Pandit Motion Pictures has decided to postpone the release of their much-anticipated film Chehre.

Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in the lead, the mystery-thriller was all set to release on April 9th, 2021. However, the film is now pushed ahead and the new release date will be announced soon.

Sharing about the decision, Producer Anand Pandit says, "Considering the situation and safety of our audiences and fans which is of utmost importance to us, we have decided to postpone our film Chehre. The team has taken immense efforts to make it a great cinematic experience and we are looking forward to our audiences coming to the theatres safely."

Emraan Hashmi shared the official statement on his Instagram that read, "Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 and new guidelines for cinemas, we are unable to release our movie Chehre on 9th April and have decided to postpone until further notice."

"We have received an overwhelming response on our trailer and we are grateful for all the love and support. We have decided to bring Chehre to audiences theatrically when the environment is more conducive for the experience," it further read.

"See you in cinemas very soon, until then stay safe and healthy! Cover your Chehre with a mask and don't forget to use sanitiser. Team Chehre," the message concluded.

Emraan Hashmi wrote, "The well-being of our very own audience is of utmost importance to us. We are extremely humbled by the love and support that we have received this far. See you in the cinemas soon. Until then, stay safe!"

Helmed by Rumy Jafry, Chehre will see megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi sharing screen space for the first time. It also stars Annu Kapoor, Krystle D’Souza, Drithiman Chakroborthy, Raghubir Yadav and Siddhanth Kapoor. The film is produced by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures & Saraswati Entertainment Private Limited and directed by Rumy Jafry.

Global popstars and Grammy-nominated artist BTS has strongly condemned the rise in anti-Asian violence in a lengthy statement. Their statement comes in a few days after the recent tragic Atlanta spa shootings that led to the death of several Asians. BTS further elaborated on their own experience with racism.

The statement was released on Tuesday morning in both Korean and English with the hashtags #StopAsianHate and #StopAAPIHate. "We send our deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. We feel grief and anger," the statement read.

"We recall moments when we faced discrimination as Asians. We have endured expletives without reason and were mocked for the way we look. We were even asked why Asians spoke in English. We cannot put into words the pain of becoming the subject of hatred and violence for such a reason. Our own experiences are inconsequential compared to the events that have occurred over the past few weeks. But these experiences were enough to make us feel powerless and chip away our self-esteem," BTS further spoke about facing racism and being subjected to the discrimination they've faced over the years.

"What is happening right now cannot be dissociated from our identity as Asians. It required considerable time for us to discuss this carefully and we contemplated deeply on how we should voice our message. But what our voice must convey is clear," the message further read.

BTS' statement also comes in few weeks after they were once again subjected to racism after their MTV Unplugged performance when a German host used racist remarks towards the popular group.

Standing in solidarity with their Asian community and condemning the violence, BTS concluded their statement by saying, "We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together."

Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan will feature him as a football coach for the first time in his career and the actor’s film has been in the news since its announcement. While the shooting schedules had to be moved around due to the unforeseen pandemic, the producer Boney Kapoor has managed to move things around effortlessly. Director Amit Sharma had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month and had home quarantined himself while following the necessary protocols.

As per the latest reports, Amit Sharma has tested negative for Coronavirus and will soon resume the shoot. The director, as per the sources, has been feeling a lot better and even though his diagnosis had left everyone tensed considering the surge, Amit Sharma is eager to resume work. He has been feeling great now and is relieved that he can finally continue to direct the film. For the unversed, Maidaan is based on the legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.

Starring Priyamani and Gajraj Rao among the others, Maidaan is slated to release on October 15.
