James Norton Talks ‘House of the Dragon’ and His Beatles Era

James Norton has seen the memes. “I’ve never been memed so much,” says Norton, whose recent turn as Ormund Hightower in “House of the Dragon” has spawned a collection of fan reactions across social media. “I did enjoy the one around the hair coloring thing: Ormund being the best colorist in Westeros,” says Norton, adding that he otherwise tries to distance himself from social media. “Everyone kept telling me, particularly in the cast, about how wide-reaching this show was, and I am getting glimpses of it. “You have to be a little bit careful, because when you start to tap into the scale and how big this show is, I don’t think it’s very healthy to be completely aware of it,” he says. “It starts to affect the way you walk around in the world.” The British actor was in New York for a very quick round of press for “House of the Dragon” ahead of its Season Three finale on Aug. 9. Norton missed some of the early-season publicity, but for good reason: he was on-set shooting Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-film Beatles biopic. Between starring in the highly anticipated film project and joining a beloved fantasy franchise, Norton is busier than ever, and

I Had My Mom Test Dyson’s Smallest Supersonic Hair Dryer to Date. Here’s How It Went.

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. I get excited about the newest innovations in hair care as much as the next beauty writer, and Dyson has particularly captivated my attention in recent years with its continued success — and breakthroughs — in the space. So when I got news a few months ago that the brand also responsible for engineering the world’s first bagless vacuum cleaner was unveiling its lightest, smallest Supersonic hair dryer to date, I knew I had to get my hands on it. That is, I knew I had to treat my mom to it, who famously hates bulky beauty tech and was never able to find a hair dryer she could travel with: always resorting to the less-than-ideal models placed in hotel bathrooms. MOM-APPROVED Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer $299.99 Buy Now at dyson $299.99 Buy Now at macy's The Dyson Supersonic Travel Hair Dryer, which appeared on the market in April 2026, marks the first time one of the company’s hero products — in this case the editor-loved Supersonic — has gone portable. 32 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter than its prototype, this leading hair dryer for international

A Little-Known Nike Loophole? You Can Customize Your Own Air Force 1s, and Here’s How.

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. When the Knicks won the NBA Finals, brands rolled up their sleeves and got crafty. Nike, chief among them, gave sneakerheads an elite opportunity to commemorate this special occasion — by unveiling a Nike Air Force 1 Low “NYC” custom style as part of its By You collection. Shoppers could decide between blue or orange uppers, both signature hues of the team, as well as whether or not gold touches would be present throughout their shoe. It’s safe to say the designs sold out all too quick for comfort as Knicks fans rushed to grab the celebratory (and wearable) collectibles, but Nike By You remains one of the best ways to infuse a Swoosh purchase with personality. Just a few clicks here is all it takes to make your fresh footwear unlike anyone else’s, similarly standing apart from anything that could be acquired in a brick-and-mortar capacity. customize your own nike shoes online When Kash Patel, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, generated headlines back in March after wearing Nike sneakers adorned by symbolic details like the FBI motto, Patel’s personal logo,

How Lily Collias Landed ‘Cape Fear’ After Breaking Out in ‘Good One’

Despite growing up in Los Angeles, it took moving across the country for Lily Collias to properly begin her life as an actor. “It’s strange how it works out that way,” the 21-year-old says. “My dad was always like, ‘why wouldn’t you just stay here?’ But I had a partner whose parents were directors in documentaries and they were like, ‘if we’re ever sourcing actors, we go to New York because everyone in L.A. is botched.’” After a breakout performance in a Sundance movie, Collias is starring in “Cape Fear,” the Apple TV+ series adaptation of the 1957 novel “The Executioners,” previously brought to screen in films in both 1962 and 1991. The show, which follows an ex-convict who seeks revenge on the lawyer who represented him, stars Javier Bardem, Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, and is produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.  Collias developed an interest in acting from a young age, but early brushes with the industry diverted her.  “My sweet mother would take me to West Hollywood, we would go at traffic hour after school to go to these auditions. It’s a very strange, alienating experience, I think, to be doing auditions that young, because I was looking at these

Florence Pugh Brings Tamara Ralph’s Origami-inspired Couture to ‘Spider-Man’ London Premiere

Florence Pugh made a sparkling surprise appearance in Tamara Ralph couture for the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” London premiere on Wednesday night at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square. Florence Pugh Getty Images The Oscar-nominated “Little Women” actress, who also appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Yelena Belova, turned to the Australian designer’s spring 2026 couture collection for her premiere look. The shimmering silver dress paid homage to the Asian influences that defined Ralph’s January 2026 collection, shown during Paris Couture Week. A fitted silhouette and cinched waist balanced the fringed hemline of the silver dress and the structural neckline of the bodice. The gravity-defying neckline featured wispy metallic silver fringe cascading from its angular edges in a waterfall effect. Florence Pugh Getty Images Pugh accessorized her look with a spot of color, thanks to Bulgari diamond-and-emerald jewelry, including rings, earrings and a Serpenti bracelet. Barbie Is Dressed to the Nines in Mattel’s 2026 Holiday Collection

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. Ah, Mattel’s annual Holiday Barbie release. Since 1988, it’s been a tradition as symbolic of Christmastime as caroling or egg nog–drinking, though last year the famed toy company was faced with backlash over the limited-edition Barbie’s final look that — how should we put it? — left a lot to be desired. Dressed in a silver-and-gold, damask-printed gown boasting a tulle trim at the top, she proceeded to be compared with everything from the curtains in your grandmother’s house to a tree skirt. And while Holiday Barbies of yore managed to fetch three-figure prices on the resale market, it’s safe to say this one’s post-launch reception didn’t cause nearly as much frenzy. In 2026, Mattel is doubling down and averting any PR blunders with a Holiday Barbie collection that, by all accounts, looks genuinely gorgeous. The collectible comes in multiple skin tones and hair colors, representative of the brand’s commitment to championing diversity. She’s also joined by a range of boyfriends, with shoppers being able to pick one with traditionally light or dark features. NEW FOR 2026 Mattel Barbie Holiday 2026 Signature Doll $45 Buy Now at

Zendaya Is a ‘Jewel in Motion’ in Tamara Ralph Couture

Zendaya continued the final leg of her “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” press tour with a Tamara Ralph couture gown for Wednesday’s London premiere of the film at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square. Zendaya Getty Images The Emmy Award-winning “Euphoria” star, who was styled by longtime collaborator Law Roach, turned to the Australian designer’s fall 2026 couture collection for her look. Shown as the second look on the runway during Paris Couture Week in early July 2026, the ethereal dress was designed with an hourglass shape in cascading ivory fabric. The dress included a mermaid skirt, with layered ivory panels flowing into a train that trailed the actress as she walked the arrival carpet. Along the corseted bodice and skirt, gold baguette gems added touches of sparkle. Tom Holland and Zendaya Eamonn M. McCormack/Getty Images The motif continued in delicate, cape-like strands that draped over the shoulders and wrapped around the upper arms. A small gold spider designed by Keren Wolf was added as a subtle nod to the film, continuing Zendaya’s method dressing approach to her “Spider-Man” press tour. The actress accessorized further with Mouawad jewelry. Ralph found inspiration in South Asia for the fall 2026 couture collection of her eponymous luxury label. The designer took the

Olivia Wilde Gives Denim Dressing a Menswear Spin in Prada

Olivia Wilde dipped into Prada denim for a menswear look at Tuesday night’s “I Want Your Sex” premiere at Los Angeles’ DGA Theater. Olivia Wilde Michael Buckner “The Invite” filmmaker and actress wore a coordinated denim look with a black blazer from the Italian luxury fashion house’s spring 2027 menswear collection — the first look to hit the runway during the show. Denim was the order of the day for Wilde, who sported Prada’s white, low-rise jeans with a slim-fitting silhouette. The denim pants were paired with a coordinated top in the same colorway and material, featuring silver buttons running down the front placket. The collared top, which also included two flap breast pockets, was given a business casual edge with a slightly oversize black blazer, featuring a sinuous lapel and rounded shoulders. Prada men’s spring 2027 Giovanni Giannoni/WWD Wilde continued the menswear styling with her pointed-toe black pumps. As for other finishing touches, the actress accessorized with earrings courtesy of De La Paix. Wilde’s look was curated by stylist Karla Welch, who also counts Tracee Ellis Ross among her clients. The Best Home Saunas for Optimizing Your Recovery and Relaxation This Season

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. Saunas are one of the hottest (pardon our pun) wellness trends right now, and for good reason. These relaxation maximizers ask nothing of you: only to hop in, close the door, and enter a meditative state. Their plethora of potential advantages is precisely what’s making at-home saunas an increasingly popular home goods category, since heat exposure and sweating have been linked to improved post-workout recovery, stress reduction, deeper sleep, and mood elevation with regular use. According to Dr. Tania Elliott, a board-certified longevity and women’s health doctor, saunas can “give your heart a workout without moving a muscle, helping dilate your vessels to increase blood flow to the heart and brain,” which is where the cardiovascular component of saunas’ rolodex of benefits stems from. Said blood flow is also directed to the skin, contributing to a “sauna glow,” as Dr. Elliott puts it, that will only complement your serums, peptide regimen, and all the other ways you’re already taking care of your complexion. The ultimate perk of owning a sauna, though? It takes just 10 to 30 minutes of use to start feeling

The Best Tinted SPF Lip Balms to Apply, and Reapply, All Summer Long

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. As beauty writers, our team has had front-row seats to the evolution of modern sunscreen in all of its manifestations. From eyeshadows with mineral blockers to dry shampoos and even setting sprays with SPF, the category continues to expand beyond what you expect to see lining the shelves of your local drugstore. Yet, amidst this shift, the oft-overlooked realm of lip balms with SPF has remained relatively untouched — until last year, that is, when lip-focused sunscreen products began showing up in a way that was worth paying attention to. “Our lips are especially vulnerable to sun damage because they lack melanin — the pigment that helps protect skin from UV radiation — and the skin on the lips is much thinner than the rest of the face,” board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ellen Marmur tells WWD. “This also makes them more prone to burns and long-term damage.” Specifically, the lower lip faces the most risk, as Dr. Marmur explains that “up to 90 percent of lip cancers occur on [this region], which receives more direct sun exposure.” Translation: You’d be wise not to overlook the

Tramell Tillman Makes His ‘Spider-Man’ Debut in Tom Ford Pinstripes

Tramell Tillman is in his boss era. On Monday night, the actor stepped out on the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of “Spider Man: Brand New Day,” debuting his long anticipated  role as William “Bill” Metzger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Last night feels unreal,” says Tillman, the morning after the premiere. “I’m basking in the moment right now. I have to look through the photos to remind myself that it happened.” His role in the film has drawn speculation an fan theories in months leading up to the release. In the comic books, Metzger is an X-Men villain, and Tillman’s role paves the way for future appearances — perhaps for the “X-Men” Phase 7 film, currently in development. “ It was a lot of love in the room, a lot of excitement,” Tillman said of the premiere crowd’s reaction to discovering his character on screen. “Watching the film with those who didn’t know anything about it, hearing the cheers, the gasps — it is so thrilling. I think that’s what’s so special about the moviegoing experience,” he adds. “I believe people were really excited and pleased with how this movie turned out. We Found the Comfiest Airport Outfit Options at Amazon — And They’ll Cost You Less Than $50

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. We’ll only say this once: It’s time for you to rethink what you usually wear to the airport, be it a ratty hoodie you’ve had since high school or those sweatpants with the nondescript stains on them. In 2026, the best airport outfit ideas revolve around coordinates like sweatsuits or cardi-and-trouser mashups, wide-leg pants with foldover waists for when that inevitable bloating at 30,000 feet sets in, and even a crisp blazer styled over a simple white tee that just might get you mistaken for a CEO at security. Yes, everyone wants to look good for their airport crush or the attractive flight attendant, but truly smart airport outfits are those that also help you stay comfortable from takeoff to landing, customs, and hailing a taxi. Breathability is key, and so is layering (just in case the A/C is blasting on the aircraft or a stressful, tight connection has you overheating). Perhaps you’re so Type A that you always bring along a pair of slippers to walk the aisles in when taking a restroom break or asking for a refill. Or

Kaia Gerber Makes the Case for Summer Knitwear in Alaïa

Kaia Gerber got fired up while out in New York City on Monday, sporting a red knit by Alaïa. The actress and model’s dress hailed from the fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection, which marked couturier Pieter Mulier’s final designs as creative director of the Paris-based luxury label. Kaia Gerber GC Images The look merged fluidity with summer knitwear in a vibrant, fiery red. The long-sleeve top had a round neckline, formfitting silhouette and ribbed fabric at the cuffs and hips for a touch of playfulness. The design transitioned into a satin-style skirt. The maxi hemline left just enough room for Gerber’s thong sandal heels, one of summer’s dominant footwear trends among A-list stars like Kendall Jenner and Michelle Obama. Kaia Gerber GC Images Gerber’s red dress made its runway debut during Paris Fashion Week in March 2026. Designed by Mulier, who assumed the role of creative director at Versace on July 1, the collection merged restraint with refinement in equal measure. Mulier “stripped back the fashion theatrics to a minimal, pure expression of the Alaïa essence, leaving a clean slate for whomever takes over next at the Paris-based house,” Miles Socha wrote in WWD’s review of the collection. The 6 Best Shoe Insoles for Plantar Fasciitis to Buy Online

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. If you’re reading this, you’re likely intimately familiar with plantar fasciitis: the main cause of heel pain that manifests when the plantar fascia (a thick band of tissue found at the bottom of the foot, serving as an essential link between the heel bone and the toes) “loses some of its elasticity or resilience” over time, oftentimes becoming inflammed or even developing micro-tears, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. Plantar fasciitis–related pain can also be exacerbated by the types of shoes you’re wearing, the pursuits you’re partaking in, and how much you weigh. That being said, while podiatrists frequently prescribe special stretches or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication to mitigate the symptoms, orthotics (particularly shoe inserts) are a leading alternative for treating plantar fasciitis without shelling out more than $100 in most cases. View this post on Instagram Such inserts, which can replace the insoles your shoes already come with, work by absorbing shock, promoting optimal foot alignment, providing supportive arch reinforcement, and stabilizing the heel.

‘Simplicity’ Defined Ellen Mirojnick’s Approach to ‘The Odyssey’ Costume Design

In “The Odyssey,” it takes Odysseus 10 years to make it home after the Trojan War. For costume designer Ellen Mirojnick, her journey with Christopher Nolan’s film adaptation was much shorter, but no less epic. It was less than two years ago — September 2024 — when Nolan and his producer-wife Emma Thomas called Mirojnick about the film, which follows their collaboration on “Oppenheimer.” “I hadn’t seen them in a bit,” says Mirojnick. “He put down the script, and it was ‘The Odyssey.’” A few hours later, Mirojnick had an understanding of Nolan’s vision for the film, which was just about to be greenlit for production. “Knowing what Chris has done over the course of his filmmaking career, it was clear that he was very intent on the idea of realism, and not fantasy,” Mirojnick says. “Once that word ‘realism’ comes down, it changes the game entirely,” she adds. “It sets the tone of the film in a way that is quite challenging, and quite exhilarating at the same time.” Unlike “Oppenheimer,” “The Odyssey” wasn’t meant to be a period piece; although there is an awareness of when the story is taking place, it doesn’t live within a specific historical period. “The process was from

Leather Sneakers Are This Summer’s Most Versatile Shoe. Here Are 7 Pairs to Prove It

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. Leather sneakers are the most adaptable, well-rounded piece of footwear you can own right now, period. They read more pulled-together than canvas or synthetic counterparts but more laidback than dress shoes or loafers, which means you can wear the style while running errands, getting dinner, hitting the bars, or even taking meetings at the office. The best leather sneakers work just as well with shorts and jeans as they do with chinos or even slacks. Check under the tables at high-end restaurants across the world, and you’ll likely spot clean, crisp leather sneakers adorning many pairs of feet — making them the new business-casual gold standard. Let’s get one thing straight, though: Leather sneakers for men and women are more than their good looks. The material is the most durable you can use for shoes, so you’ll get better mileage out of your leather kicks than the aforementioned canvas or synthetic options. The top pairs of leather sneakers, if properly cared for, can carry you around for more than a decade. Given the footwear type’s ubiquity, there are a lot of leather sneakers

The Beaches Reflect on a Breakout Year, From Madison Square Garden to ‘Off Campus’

In true New York fashion, The Beaches were so busy running around the city on the day of their Madison Square Garden performance that the first time they took the stage was in front of a sold-out crowd. “It was such a hectic day. We weren’t able to get a soundcheck, so we had to raw dog the show,” recalls Jordan Miller, the band’s lead vocalist, in the days following the show. “But having the first moment that we were actually in the arena be right before we went on stage was so thrilling. I didn’t want the show to end. It felt like we belonged up there.” “Raw dogging” MSG might just be the band’s most rock ‘n’ roll move yet. The Toronto-based quartet — sisters Jordan Miller and Kylie Miller, Leandra Earl and Eliza Enman-McDaniel — are currently on tour opening for former One Directioner Louis Tomlinson. How Lupita Nyong’o’s ‘The Odyssey’ Press Tour Looks Embraced Helen of Troy’s Power

Each member of “The Odyssey” cast took the unofficial Grecian-inspired press tour dress code and gave it their own interpretation, with a few channeling their respective characters. Under the styling of Micaela Erlanger, Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o’s promo wardrobe went full Helen of Troy, merging power and precision in equal measure. How did Erlanger and Nyong’o infuse those qualities into her red carpet and photo call attire? And what might the actress’ press tour wardrobe tell audiences about her interpretation of Helen of Troy before “The Odyssey” hits theaters on Friday?
