Katie Holmes Honored at American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala

On Wednesday night, American Ballet Theatre brought a taste of the Metropolitan Opera House to Cipriani 42nd Street. The ballet company headed to the midtown venue for its annual spring gala, with dancers — and a ballet — in tow. The evening kicked off the upcoming summer season while raising support for the company, and paid tribute to longtime supporter Katie Holmes. Guests included ballet and theater lovers, including “Hadestown” creator Anaïs Mitchell, Timothée Chalamet’s mother Nicole Flender, choreographer Anne Imhof, Constance Wu, Zac Posen, Fernando Garcia, Iris Apatow, Jeremiah Brent and Nate Berkus, Katie Couric, Michael and Victoria Imperioli, and more. The ABT company dancers were the first to arrive, walking the red carpet in black-tie before heading backstage to change into costume for their performance of “Don Quixote.” The popular ballet has been restaged by ABT artistic director Susan Jaffe for the summer season, and gala guests were offered an abbreviated staging (which included a projection of windmills across the ceiling of the former bank) during dinner. “ It is so beautiful in here,” said Apatow as she took in the room’s decor, which included an orange glitter photo wall backdrop framed by potted displays of orange Mokara orchids. “I know we’re

‘Ragtime’ Star and First-time Tony Nominee Ben Levi Ross Is Taking It All In

A few hours after “Ragtime” claimed five Drama League awards last Friday, Ben Levi Ross was back in his dressing room at the Lincoln Center Theater, and getting ready to continue doing the work that has established the musical as an awards season frontrunner.  “I just keep saying to myself, ‘Even though you’re tired, take everything in, take every second in, keep your eyes open, look around,’” says Ross. “Because this is rare, and this does not happen all the time.’” In fact, it’s the 28-year-old actor’s being nominated (and eligible) for a Tony award. In recent weeks, he won Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for his featured performance in the musical. May has proven to be particularly busy for the “Ragtime” cast, who continue to take the stage for eight performances each week. The afternoon before the Drama League Awards, which jointly honors the Broadway and off-Broadway communities in New York, Ross attended a Tonys “meet the nominees” luncheon alongside several of his costars, including show leads Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy and Brandon Uranowitz. The production received 11 Tony nominations overall. Ben Levi Ross Lexie Moreland/WWD Long after the rave critical reviews and celebratory nature of opening night last fall, “Ragtime” is continuing

Cruz went minimalist with her jewelry pieces, save for a pair of statement silver earrings and wore pointed-toe black heels to complete her attire. Penélope Cruz Getty Images Cruz has had a close relationship with Chanel since joining the maison in 2018 as a brand ambassador, a role to which she was appointed by late creative director Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019. “It’s such an iconic brand and Karl is a genius, and I’ve been admiring everything he’s done since I was a little girl, so it’s such a pleasure working with him. Charly Clive on ‘Rooster,’ Working With Steve Carell, and Finding Comedy in Vulnerability

It’s been nothing but positive feedback for Charly Clive since her show “Rooster” arrived on Apple TV. Fans have come to love the “relaxing” tone of the show, as well as the dynamic between Clive’s character Katie and her onscreen father, played by Steve Carell. But the biggest highlight?  “So many people will comment that they didn’t realize I was English,” Clive says, “which is such a compliment.” The Brit plays Katie Russo, a professor at a New England college whose husband, a fellow professor, cheats on her with a grad student. In light of her public embarrassment, her author father, Greg, accepts a position as a visiting lecturer on campus to be close to his daughter in her time of need.  “I’ve the benefit of having done most of my press with Steve and he knows what he’s doing and is beloved by everyone,” Clive says. “So you have the light of him shining on you and I feel like that felt very good.” The 33-year-old initially got an audition for an “untitled Steve Carell project” in her inbox and didn’t need any further information to get excited. “But you don’t think anything’s going to come of that, particularly when a big star is attached

Joey King Selects a Miu Miu Collection of Denim, Greens and Side Boob

“It’s too cute,” said Joey King, standing before a rack of clothes at the Miu Miu 57th Street boutique in Manhattan. The collection before her was marked with tags with her name on it, and had been selected by King with the help of her stylist, Jared Eng, as part of her curation of the brand’s latest in store offering. Her Miu Miu selections were celebrated Monday evening with a store party, and prior to guests’ arrivals, King was walking through the rack. “I picked too many things [at first],” she said of the process. “I didn’t want it to feel like everything went together, but I wanted there to be a little bit of a through line, because I wanted it to feel like you could really mix any purse with any outfit and put any dress with any sweater and any handkerchief and have it feel like it was all going to work, even though the textures and colors are all very different.” Highlights for the actress included the denim pieces she chose. “I’m always so afraid of denim because going jean shopping is the worst thing I’ve ever imagined in my whole f–king life,” she said. “But the denim here

Ella Bright on Leading Prime Video’s ‘Off Campus,’ the Latest Hockey Romance BookTok Sensation

It helps to be a hockey romance show coming out on streaming services in the wake of “Heated Rivalry.” Prime Video has gone all out for the release of the new series “Off Campus,” and the cast recently flew down to Brazil for several days of press. “We’ve just been drinking a lot of coconut water today,” the show’s lead Ella Bright says. “That’s the vibe.” The 19-year-old British actress stars as Hannah in the latest BookTok (the community on TikTok centered around books) sensation series adaptation, which is based on the 2015 book “The Deal” by Elle Kennedy. The show, out Wednesday, follows Hannah Wells, a music major who strikes a deal with the school’s star hockey player, Garrett: he needs tutoring help from her to pass a philosophy class, and she needs his help attracting the attention of her crush, Justin.  Bright was unfamiliar with the series before getting an audition, but was vaguely aware that hockey romance books were a thing.  “I had heard, every now and again, of ice hockey romance books from BookTok, and heard it circling, but I’d never heard of ‘Off Campus’ specifically,” she says.  Ella Bright Lexie Moreland/WWD She originally auditioned in March 2025 and they shot last summer,

Queen Camilla Revives Serpent Necklace for A King’s Trust Celebration

Queen Camilla revived one of her rarely seen necklaces for A King’s Trust Celebration in London on Monday night alongside King Charles III. King Charles III and Queen Camilla Getty Images The United Kingdom’s queen consort wore her diamond serpent necklace, a piece that’s been part of Queen Camilla’s personal collection for several years but rarely makes the rounds for public events and engagements. The necklace is completely encrusted with diamonds and features ruby-set eyes for a subtle pop of color. The piece is a family heirloom, crafted by Van Cleef & Arpels, according to a November 2025 report from InStyle. King Charles III and Queen Camilla Getty Images Serpents have been a symbolic motif embraced by members of the British royal family on rare occasions. Queen Victoria wore a snake-shaped engagement ring cast in gold with an emerald, while Queen Alexandra was the owner of a gold serpent bracelet. As far as symbolism, a serpent is a transformative symbol, often cited for the way the snake sheds its skin. As such, the necklace serves as a symbolic piece for Queen Camilla — one of renewal and movement into the future. Amal Clooney Glitters in McQueen at A King’s Trust Celebration

Amal Clooney went for gold in her retro McQueen look for A King’s Trust Celebration in London on Monday alongside husband George Clooney. Amal Clooney and George Clooney PA Images via Getty Images The longtime attorney and human rights advocate turned to the late Lee Alexander McQueen’s fall 2007 collection for her red carpet attire. The dress was crafted with allover shimmering gold sequins and featured an Art Deco-style design of sinuous lines and sharp angles for a contemporary appeal along with its timeless silhouette. The maxidress included a V-shaped neckline with short, capped sleeves, a column silhouette and hem that nearly grazed the red carpet — were it not for Clooney’s coordinated metallic gold pointed-toe pumps. Alexander McQueen’s fall 2007 collection WireImage Clooney’s fall 2007 collection debuted as part of Paris Fashion Week back in March 2007. While the collection was not explicitly an homage to Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor, several of the aesthetic choices for the models and designs harkened back to the two-time Oscar-winning actress’ career. The gilded gold dress Clooney wore for Monday’s event in London evoked Taylor’s 1963 film “Cleopatra.” From the dress’ ornate gold design to the model’s makeup and hairstyling, the entire look was reminiscent of costumes worn by the actress. Don’t even bother looking: Guerlain’s $660 Vanille Planifolia Extrait 21 perfume simply cannot be duped. This sentiment is shared by hundreds of Reddit users and fragrance snobs, who regularly post statements like “Guerlain DNA is pretty hard to reproduce” and “Guerlain’s private and extrait line cannot be duped, in fact any Guerlain [scent] probably cannot be duped as they manufacture and procure their own ingredients.” As beauty experts, we concur. While affordable replicas of the Vanille Planifolia Extrait 21 do exist, not a single one comes close to cloning Guerlain’s meticulous attention to detail, perfected across centuries. Marilyn Monroe, born Norma Jeane Mortenson, was a lot of things: Hollywood legend, reportedly asexual sex symbol, model, film production company founder, and avid reader alike. The instantly recognizable starlet was born June 1, 1926, which means the centennial celebrations of her birthday are heating up as we speak. Thanks to a range of popular brands from Montblanc to Shark, you can now pay tribute to Monroe’s artistic prowess and charismatic public persona with limited-edition, themed products spanning home goods, clothing, beauty tech, books, and beyond. Most notably, it’s now possible to buy “Marilyn Monroe 100: The Official Centenary Book” on Amazon, which calls itself the “the only official photography-based publication to commemorate the centenary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth.” Given the fact that Monroe’s personal library housed more than 400 titles, including novels by literary titans like Dostoevsky and Whitman, she would likely be happy to know that the 300-something-page release supports its glamorous visuals, lensed by the 20th century’s top talents, with famous quotes from the woman herself; a peek at the photographers’ creative processes; plus a foreword by Christian

The Best Walking Shoes for Women, From the Affordable to the Athletic

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, WWD may receive an affiliate commission. There are plenty of shoes on the market to choose from, but not all are equally capable of securing comfort during an activity most of us do every day: walking. When shopping for lifestyle footwear, comfort is often pushed to the wayside in favor of fashion and flair. And when seeking out a highly technical sneaker for athletic purposes, it’s all too common to go with a shoe that treats style like an afterthought. We’re here to tell you that having the best of both worlds is not impossible; you just need to know where to look. As you’re embarking on the hunt for a walking shoe that goes the extra mile, literally, you’ll want to consider a couple of factors. Pricing is a key concern, but so is wearability — which we’d argue is the most important aspect in the universe of the best walking shoes for women. Hiking (or even strolling) long distances and standing on your feet for extended periods of time can put unwanted pressure on your joints. A properly cushioned sole, therefore, is the calling card

Chef Hasung Lee Opens Oyatte, a Farm-fed Tasting Restaurant

In New York’s dining landscape, opening a restaurant can take time. Often, much more time than initially anticipated. Opening Oyatte, chef Hasung Lee’s first restaurant, was five years and five city locations in the making. The fine-dining concept landed on 39th Street after numerous locations fell through, taking over a space that was previously home to a Michelin-star restaurant. Lee opened the eatery in partnership with Hand Hospitality, which has backed popular chef-led restaurants including Jua, Atoboy and Lysée. Lee connected with founder Kihyun Lee while working as chef de cuisine at Atomix, which led to a conversation about opening a restaurant of his own. “ I didn’t feel I was ready, and I told him, ‘I’m gonna go to French Laundry’ — so if he can wait for me another two to three years, then let’s talk about it later,” says Lee.  The chef, originally from Korea, has worked across top restaurants in the U.S. and Europe, honing his cooking in American, Korean, French and Nordic cuisines. Lee decamped from Atomix in New York for Thomas Keller’s famous West Coast fine-dining farm-to-table restaurant, where he worked in the kitchen as a sous chef. There, he befriended head farmer Brett Ellis, who later moved back

Getting Ready With Tate McRae in Ludovic De Saint Sernin for the 2026 Met Gala

For her first Met Gala, Tate McRae worked with designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin on a golden gown that was inspired by the gilded statues adorning La Réale, the ceremonial boat of Louis XIV, preserved at the Musée National de la Marine near where Sernin grew up. “Since the theme is ‘Fashion Is Art,’ we really wanted to blur the line between a garment and a sculpture. This dress is crafted to make me look like a living gold statue,” McRae says. “The corset is so structured and powerful, then you have these soft feathers and the most delicate French gold lace layered in….It’s dramatic, it’s glowing, it’s literally everything I could’ve dreamed of and more. I’ve never worn anything that feels this special, it is like a piece of history that’s been brought into 2026. I’m so beyond grateful to be here, wearing a piece of art like this for my very first Met.” A look at Tate McRae getting ready for the 2026 Met Gala. Add a Little Flair to Everyday Dressing With a Cape

Fashion is craving fantasy again. As the reign of minimalism gives way to a more expressive mood, statement-making style is back — from oversize Jackie O-inspired sunglasses to chunky statement necklaces and animal print in every imaginable form. Sweeping in with a fresh dose of drama for everyday dressing? The return of the cape. Capes have long belonged to the world of special occasions — draped over ultraglamorous evening gowns, cut into sweeping statement coats, immortalized in Stevie Nicks’ mystical stage ensembles. But as fashion looks to bring more of that milestone magic into daily life, the once-elusive silhouette is entering a new era of wearability. No longer reserved for runways and red carpets, the cape is winning over fashion insiders for everyday dressing and special occasions alike. The modern cape revival has been building quietly on runways for several seasons. It began largely with cape-adjacent outerwear — namely the ubiquitous Toteme scarf coat that came to dominate street style and fashion feeds alike. By spring and fall 2026, the momentum evolved beyond outerwear into cape blouses, capelets, and sheer caped eveningwear layers. From Chloé to Dior, Alaïa and Alberta Ferretti, designers offered a spectrum of interpretations that redefined the silhouette. Alberta Ferretti
