Amal Clooney Glitters in McQueen at A King’s Trust Celebration
Amal Clooney went for gold in her retro McQueen look for A King’s Trust Celebration in London on Monday alongside husband George Clooney. The dress was crafted with allover shimmering gold sequins and featured an Art Deco-style design of sinuous lines and sharp angles for a contemporary appeal along with its timeless silhouette. The maxidress included a V-shaped neckline with short, capped sleeves, a column silhouette and hem that nearly grazed the red carpet — were it not for Clooney’s coordinated metallic gold pointed-toe pumps. While the collection was not explicitly an homage to Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor, several of the aesthetic choices for the models and designs harkened back to the two-time Oscar-winning actress’ career. The gilded gold dress Clooney wore for Monday’s event in London evoked Taylor’s 1963 film “Cleopatra.” From the dress’ ornate gold design to the model’s makeup and hairstyling, the entire look was reminiscent of costumes worn by the actress.
