Producer Firoz Nadiadwala’s ambitious feature-film based on the Mahabharat will get its screenplay from the film Mahabharat that his father A. G. Nadiadwala had produced in 1965.

Confirming this, Firoz says, “Writing the Mahabharat for the screen has always been the biggest problem. This is why so few films on the Mahabharat have been attempted. I have my father’s film on the Mahabharat with the most brilliant and comprehensive script based on the sacred saga. When the best possible treatment of the Mahabharat epic is right under my nose, why should I look anywhere else?”

Produced by A G Nadiadwala in 1965, the Mahabharat starred Abhi Bhattacharya as Lord Krishna, Padmini (from Raj Kapoor’s Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai and Mera Naam Joker) as Draupadi, Pradeep Kumar as Arjuna and Dara Singh as Bhim.

The film directed by Babubhai Mistry was a hit.

This Saturday, the top 12 singers from the 13^th season of Sony TV’s Indian Idol will be performing with the cute little kids from Superstar Singer 2 in the Bachpan Special episode. The list of little contestants includes Pranjal Biswas, Rohan Das, Sayisha Gupta, Mohd. Faiz, Mani, Rituraj and Samaira Mahajan.

The current season of Indian Idol is judged by well-known musical personalities Vishal Dadlani, Himesh Reshammiya and Neha Kakkar.

On what can the audience expect from the episode, an official statement from the makers said, “Viewers will witness some extraordinary singing talent mixed with lots of dhamaal and masti. Mohali ki miss universe, Sayisha Gupta and judge Vishal Dadlani will be seen grooving on the song ‘Nacho Nacho’ from the blockbuster film RRR. The little prankster, Rituraj will be seen getting pranked by this Indian Idol contestant leaving everyone in splits. Making Mausam Musicana, everyone’s favorite Rishi Singh and Superstar Singer 2 winner Mohd. Faiz will be seen delivering a jaw-dropping and historic performance.”

That’s not all. The Sunday episode of Indian Idol will see the show celebrating the veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts and also the fact that it’s the first production house listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). He will also be sharing anecdotes from some of the famous songs from his films.

Bollywood actress Kajol is currently gearing up for her upcoming film Salaam Venky. Ever since the makers dropped its trailer, it has managed to garner a positive response from the audience. Apart from Aamir Khan and Kajol’s reunion, the upcoming film will also see another reunion. Kajol, who marked her debut with Bekhudi released in 1992, will reunite with Kamal Sadanah after 30 years.

For the unversed, Kamal rose to fame with the romantic film Rang, which was released in 1993. The film also featured Ayesha Jhulka and Divya Bharti. However, he took a sabbatical from the movies by the end of the 90s and went into direction and production. In Salaam Venky, Kamal will be seen playing a pivotal role.

Speaking of the same, Kamal said, “Shooting with Kajol again made me think that I was on the sets of Bekhudi. She still speaks non-stop and I had to pick my chair up and move to the other side (laughs). But it has been great fun! I can’t talk much about my role. I’m surprised they’ve put me in the trailer because no one was supposed to know that I’m in the film and what my character is all about,” in a statement.

Meanwhile, Kajol asserted, “For the first five to ten minutes, I didn’t say anything. I kept screaming. It was just really nice. We’ve met in between and we know of each other’s whereabouts and everything that’s happening in our lives. But it was lovely working with him again.”

Interestingly, at the trailer launch of Salaam Venky, director Revathy had said, “I didn’t tell Kajol about the actor playing Kamal’s part in the film. There’s a very important scene between the two of them. It was a big surprise for her.”

Salaam Venky is slated to release on December 9.

Kartik Aaryan will be playing an unusual character of a shy and introvert dentist who loves playing with miniature planes and his pet turtle in his upcoming romantic thriller Freddy. The actor has now opened up on how he prepared to play such a character.

“As an actor I like to approach a role with a clean slate and a fresh perspective,” he said in a statement. “I really soak in the vision my director has for the character; so I didn’t have to model my role in Freddy on any other fictional character. However, I did watch a lot of thrillers and I did study and observe dentists at work, the rest was me bringing the character (director) Shashanka Ghosh had in mind, to life.”

Freddy will see Kartik paired opposite Alaya F for the first time. Apart from the script and her co-star, the actress agreed to do the film as it was produced by Jay Shewakramani, who was also the man who made her debut film Jawaani Jaaneman in 2020.

Sharing about her equation with the producer, Alaya recently said, “He’s been a great support and mentor to me over the last three years. When Freddy came to me, it was an instant yes from my end, because of them, because if he and the team are confident I can pull it off, I trust I can too.”

After deleting her controversial ‘Galwan tweet,’ actress Richa Chadha has now offered an apology for hurting the sentiments of the Indian Army and their followers in the country. In a Twitter statement, she said, “Even though it can never be my intention in the least, if the 3 words which have been dragged into a controversy have offended or hurt anyone, I apologize and also say that it would sadden me if even unintentionally my words have triggered this feeling in my brothers in the Fauj, of which my own Nanaji has been an illustrious part. As a Lt. Col, he took a bullet in the leg in the Indo-China war, in 1960s. It’s in my blood.”

She added, “A whole family is affected when their son is martyred or even injured while saving the nation which is made up of people like us and I personally know how it feels. It is an emotive issue for me.”

It all began when Northern Army Commander Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi said that if given orders by the government of India, the Indian Army is capable of taking back Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). Richa quote tweeted the news and wrote, “Galwan says hi,” as an indirect reference of the disputed Galwan territory between India and China.

Richa instantly got embroiled in a controversy after she started getting trolled on social media from the political class and netizens.

Actress Richa Chadha has been embroiled in a social media controversy following her ‘Galwan tweet’, which now stands deleted. It all started with the Northern Army Commander Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi stating that the Indian Army is ready to take back Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) if given orders by the government of India.

Quote tweeting this news, Richa wrote, “Galwan says hi.” This was her cheeky mention of the controversial territory of Galwan with which India has dispute with China. Her Tweet instantly sparked controversy as she started getting trolled for allegedly mocking the Indian Army.

Reacting strongly to the tweet, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa replied to the now deleted tweet and wrote, “Disgraceful Tweet. Should be withdrawn at the earliest. Insulting our armed forces is not justified.”

Film producer and social activist Ashoke Pandit has urged the Mumbai police to file an FIR against Richa. He tweeted, “I appeal to @CPMumbaiPolice @MumbaiPolice to file an F.I.R against actress #RichaChadha for mocking & abusing our security forces. She has been a regular offender of spreading hate towards nationalist forces.”
