Jonathan Anderson Turns Viral ‘Loewe’ Tomato Meme Into a Luxury Clutch
When life gives you tomatoes, make a clutch. A photo of a large heirloom tomato with deep ribbing and grooves running from the top to the bottom went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter), thanks to a comparison between the fruit with Loewe’s designs. “This tomato is so Loewe I can’t explain it,” user @homocowboi shared on Monday, garnering more than 98 thousand likes on his post since then. Jonathan Anderson, the creative designer behind Loewe, embraced the viral moment and shared a screenshot of the post on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday. But the designer didn’t stop there. Inspired by the heirloom tomato, Anderson created a clutch bag with the same ribbing design as the fruit and a golden sepal that functions as a lock. “Loewe meme to reality,” the designer wrote on his Instagram on Thursday.
