Dries Van Noten Names New President

In his first big business move since being acquired by Puig in 2018, Dries Van Noten has appointed a new president. Matteo De Rosa joins the Antwerp-based fashion house effective Feb. 1. The post is a new one. Previously, De Rosa had spent six years as managing director of Ports 1961. In a statement, the company hinted at global ambitions and said De Rosa “has an inherent ability to operate seamlessly in cross-cultural environments and his broad experience in executive roles in both Europe and the Asia Pacific region with a focus on business and brand expansion, perfectly position him for this new appointment. “Importantly, he has a genuine respect and understanding of the creative process and mindset, together with a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of a fashion house,” it added. Van Noten remains a minority shareholder in the company, and carries the title of chief creative officer and chairman of the board. One of the original Antwerp Six, Van Noten comes from a family of tailors and is a graduate of Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
