Emily Dawn Long Throws a Disco Dance Party at (Sub)Mercer During NYFW
We’ve always said it really isn’t New York Fashion Week without a dance floor makeout. On Friday evening, the scene outside The Mercer hotel’s subterranean club (Sub)Mercer felt far from the sanitized NYFW as of late. There were no street-style fits or social media postings, just vaping and gossiping and patiently waiting to be let in to dance. Designer Emily Dawn Long had posted on her Instagram earlier in the week that she was throwing a disco party, “seeking everyone to come drip in sweat.” The night was titled “no one dances anymore,” which was also the name of her latest vintage T drop: the designer repurposed sourced vintage T-shirts that she emblazoned with her “no one dances anymore” logo and an image of two figures dancing. The coat check at (Sub)Mercer had filled up within the first hour of the night: people were eager to party. Guests sipped martinis on the couch, while those on the dance floor opted for the more dance-friendly tequila soda. Little trays of branded matchboxes and Hershey’s kisses were placed throughout the club, silver foil wrappers piling up at tables.
