Americans in Paris Find Time for Inspiration and a Bit of Fun

A WEEKEND IN PARIS: It has been a busy few days for the designers participating in the Americans in Paris showroom, backed by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue, which ran through March 4 at a new location on Rue Pierre Charron. Between walk-throughs with retailers as well as journalists and influencers, the designers for the 10 labels present — all 2018 Vogue Fashion Fund finalists participating in the initiative for the first time — were also fitting in some downtime in the City of Light, whether for inspiration or partying. For Jonathan Cohen, a trip to the flea markets was on the cards. “My collection is vintage inspired, and the littlest thing could catch my eye and spark a whole new season,” said the designer, whose fall 2019 vision came from blankets found on a trip to Mexico. He had also enjoyed a private tour of the new exhibition at the Musée Yves Saint Laurent, one of the themes of which is the designer’s Mondrian dresses. “It was beautiful,” he said. “We ended up at a Latin cabaret bar, we’re from Colombia, and Latins find each other everywhere,” confided Hunting Season’s Lena Baranovsky. “It was a drag cabaret, with tango
