People think Golden Goose is just a recent phenomenon, but it’s not.” The brand was founded and continues to be headquartered in Marghera, “a very, very little town next to Venice.” Although most other luxury brands are based in Paris, Milan or New York, and “99 percent of people don’t even know where [Maghera] is on the earth,” it is at the core of the company’s ethos. “Our origin is important because Marghera is a place where people still have space to dream. And the dream is 99 percent of the reason we have success,” he said. Although Carlyle Group acquired the brand in early 2017Follow WWD on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook.
