Rick Owens Furniture Finally Comes to Germany
Furniture designed by Rick Owens will be available in Germany for the first time at the end of April. Berlin retail stalwart Andreas Murkudis will devote one of his gallery-like stores in the central city to Owens-designed furnishings. Also available at the store, Andreas Murkudis 77, from April 24 until the end of May will be Owens’ spring-summer clothing collection as well as the results of the designer’s ongoing collaboration with German sandal maker Birkenstock. For dedicated Owens followers, there will also be a small selection from the archive, a spokesperson from Andreas Murkudis told WWD, and this will include books and post cards from the designer’s previous collections. “Andreas is a real Rick Owens fan — they share a similar aesthetic — and he had wanted to work with him for a long time,” the spokesperson said. “But the space was never suitable until now.” The store is currently located in an large industrial space, a former bank, next to Murkudis’ other properties. All of them are named for their street addresses. During the opening night, Owens’ partner and muse, Michèle Lamy, will perform there. Following the Owens opening, the adjacent store — Andreas Murkudis 81, a former print works — will alsoFollow WWD on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook.
