Xavier Romatet Takes Over Institut Français de la Mode

PARIS — Xavier Romatet has been named general manager of fashion school Institut Français de la Mode located in the Cité de la mode et du Design in Paris. Beginning Aug. 26, the French businessman will succeed Dominique Jacomet, who will take up the position of adviser to IFM president André Beirnaert. Romatet will work alongside IFM executive director Sylvie Ebel. Romatet was at the head of Condé Nast France from 2006 to 2018, becoming an official member of the Condé Nast International executive committee in 2016. During his tenure at the publisher, he oversaw the launch of French GQ in 2008 and Vanity Fair France in 2013. This nomination comes at a pivotal year for the IFM, which merged with the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture in January in an ambition to become “the world’s best fashion school.” “I warmly congratulate Dominique Jacomet and Sylvie Ebel for their excellent teamwork, which allowed the IFM to become the number-one fashion management school in the world,” said Beirnaert, who took over presidency following IFM founder Pierre Bergé’s death in 2017. “The ambition is now to turn the Institut Français de la Mode into a global reference in the areas of creation, management
