Cult Accessories Brand Susan Alexandra Collaborates With Champion
Cult accessories label Susan Alexandra, known for its Instagram-famous beaded handbags, has collaborated with Champion on a line of athleticwear. The label’s founder, Susan Korn, has applied her signature optimism to basic workout clothes. Fruit prints, pastel stripes and Skittle-like multicolor snaps adorn windbreakers, tube tops, bike shorts, sweatshirts and bucket hats — all priced from $35 to $99. The collection will retail at Urban Outfitters and Champion stores, beginning today. “It’s been my ultimate goal to make clothes,” said Korn. “This is such a great way to break into it, having a whole team of people who are able to execute your vision. They knew the best ways of construction, it is an amazing opportunity to see how it could work — it gave me a taste of the clothes designing process and opened a door for more clothing in the future,” she added. “Susan Alexandra’s boldness and creativity pairs well with the confidence Champion has promoted for women over the past 100 years,” Matt Waterman, general manager for Champion Athleticwear, said of the collaboration. “Champion was inspired by her unique textiles and prints, and we’re thrilled to have a created a collection that pairs these playful trends and reimagines them throughFollow WWD on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook.
