PARIS — Daniel Lalonde, chief executive officer of SMCP, the group behind Sandro, Maje and Claudie Pierlot, has joined the supervisory board of Puig as an independent director, the family-owned Spanish fragrance and fashion firm, WWD has learned from a source with knowledge of the matter who declined to be named. Other directors on the board include Jordi Constans, former Louis Vuitton chief executive officer and former Desigual ceo Manel Adell. Puig declined to comment. Lalonde has worked for SMCP since 2014, managing the company when it was sold from private equity firm KKR to Chinese textile conglomerate Shandong Ruyi Group, overseeing its listing on the French stock market in 2017, and steering the contemporary French fashion labels into international markets. The former LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton executive, who has extensive experience in North America, has also worked for Louis Vuitton and Tag Heuer as well as Ralph Lauren. Puig generated 1.93 billion euros in sales last year, the bulk of which came from outside of its home market of Spain. The company, which owns Paco Rabanne, last year bought fashion label Dries Van Noten, and plans to expand it into the perfume category.Follow WWD on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook.
