Tapestry Inc. Snags VF Corp. Exec as Chief Operations Officer
Tapestry Inc. has hired former VF Corp. senior executive Thomas Glaser as its chief operations officer, the fashion group said Wednesday. The appointment will take effect in mid-July. Glaser, who has been at VF Corp. since 2001, has overseen the apparel company’s supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing as president of its supply chain operations. In his new role at Tapestry, Glaser will oversee the group’s product development, supply chain and distribution, the group said. “Tom’s leadership and outstanding operational track record at global multibrand fashion companies make him an excellent addition to the Tapestry leadership team,” said Tapestry ceo Victor Luis, who will oversee Glaser. New York-based Tapestry, which owns high-end apparel and accessories and lifestyle brands including Coach, Stuart Weitzman and Kate Spade, made a healthy showing at its third-quarter earnings this month. The company reported that net sales for the three-month period ending March 30 were $1.33 billion, up from $1.32 billion a year earlier. Glaser has worked on sourcing and sales issues since before his time at VF Corp., which owns outdoor and activewear brands including The North Face and Timberland.
