Jonathan Anderson Named Trustee of the V&A Museum

LONDON – Jonathan Anderson, a robust supporter of art, craft and design, has been named a trustee of the Board of the Victoria & Albert Museum, alongside three others from a variety of professions. The V&A confirmed Tuesday that Prime Minister Theresa May has named four new trustees. Anderson, Dr Genevieve Davies and Marc St John have all been appointed for four years from Feb., 2019. David Bomford has been named for four years from April. Anderson, who hails from Northern Ireland, attended London College of Fashion and launched his own men’s wear collection in 2008 under the JW Anderson label. In 2010, he expanded into women’s wear, and in 2013 he was named the creative director of Loewe. He has collaborated on collections and products for brands including Converse, Coca-Cola, Topshop and Uniqlo, among others. In 2016 he founded the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize, the first international award for contemporary craft, and in 2017 he curated Disobedient Bodies, an exhibition of art, drawings and sculpture at The Hepworth Wakefield in Wakefield, Yorkshire.
